At some point someone had posted a gear creation script for WM2D. I'm not sure where but somewhere. I have used it in the past and it's quite easy. I have since lost it though...

re: Toad Elevating Moment

Hello All, Attached is an attempt I made to create a similar arrangement, heavily influenced by MT137. For this simulation I used a series of rods and circles in order to be able to precisely control lengths and distances between the connecting "nodes" (the circles) which I had previously ...

re: Toad Elevating Moment

Hello Fellow Nerds, Quite and interesting and stimulating discussion going on here. Very refreshing after recent events/discussions! To be honest, many of the more granular, mathematical based conversation is way over my head but the results sure are interesting! I've always been more of a "thr...

Interesting indeed! To me this leaves us with two questions:

- how can this motion be used to create an imbalance?

- how can this be done in a resetable way?

Being a proponent of the idea that the wheels ran on some sort of overbalancing system Ihave long though that the bidirectional wheels were achieve by arranging the overbalance towards the top of the wheel rather than to one or the other side. As for why he would spend the time to do this, I believe...

Hi Justabill. When building isn't an option I find that it's best to try and recreate the design in whichever program you're using. It's the quickest way to see if your "runner" is for real or the result of a flaw in your software. I myself have had several alleged "runners" that...

I think it just means that one weight must move away from the central axis, perpedicularly. Maybe this implies that the other moves parallel to the axis? I don't know. I do however agree with Tarsier79; simple positioning of weights farther away from the axis on one side than the other will not work...

Hi 11Turion,

I have an idea of how to improve your basic idea that I believe will remove the objectionable portions of the design. Whether or not it will work I will leave to the experts. I don't have time now but I will try to illustrate it later.

Stay tuned...

Hi 11Turion, Obviously I'm not Tarsier79 but I do have some thoughts on your questions to him. The biggest issue you'll face with this design is the back torque create by your two connected weights. Back troque will be caused by their position relative to the cental axis of the wheel. One important ...

Re: re: Shifting mass to achieve overbalance.

I see what you mean. I think I need to extend the weight so it is farther away from the hub of the wheel. It just requires a longer rod. The pivot point can also move up and down. What is needed is someone with some engineering skills to take a look at this and figure out what the lowest point you ...

Hi 11Turion, I wasn't necessarily talking about the amount of mass shifting, more the distance the mass travels. I do however think that the movement can be amplified. To me, this concept has alot of promise. I'd be interested to know the opinions of the more educated (in physics) members. I'm inter...

Hi 11Turion, That's some good stuff you have going there. Your craftsmanship really shows in what you've come up with so far. I don't know if I think that small amount of weight shift would be enough to sustain overbalance. I do however think that there are other ways to exploit this motion/amplify ...

I agree with Timothy. The best thing you can do is adopt another. There are so many in need. It sounds to me like you were a great friend to Ricky I'm sure the same will be true of Ricky the Second.

On a somewhat related side note: I've got 3 dogs if you'd like to take them off my hands :-P
