Hi jim, I was thinking this could be why the Bessler wheels were so big because the large prime mover weights operating around the axle had to be so far away from the shifter weights operating close to the rim. I thorght that the wheel might be more sensitive to weights moving on the the rim, it would be like having a larger leaver

Do you think the prime movers operated around the axle were they would have the least affect on the balance of the wheel and the reason the wheels were so big is because the shifter weights had to be as far away from them to have the most affect.
