re: Kenneth W. Behrendt's Latest Opus

When I was a kid I spent summers in the Netherlands, and many kids played with a button suspended on a string.Once wound up, they could keep the button spinning indefinately by pulling the string outward and then giving some slack, then repeating the whole process.

re: Bessler Used 120 Small Weights To Add Up To One Big One

As long as you are the FIRST to show a working wheel, and you present it as a whole and entire working wheel, I don't think anyone can claim you used their ideas. The problem is that so many people have claimed a working wheel, but not even one person has proven it. A successful wheel will travel ar...

CloudCamper has a way of rubbing people the wrong way. But the information that CC gave out about WM2D is very valuable and someone should say thanks for the links and info.

Hey ME!
I love that album "Hounds Of Love" ! I especially dig the cello part on the title
track. I can just see old Paddy Mcbush sawing away. Can you see my record collection through my monitor?

re: Bessler-Nero Wheel

It is my firm opinion that MT 18 doesn't work because the weights spend twice the amount of time moving up as going down. There is no continuous positive torque. As it is drawn it will rotate about another 30 degrees and then stop.

re: Remove bearing, still do work?

When Bessler let the witnesses hold that cylinder in the handkerchief, did he specifically say that it was a drive weight? And why would anyone assume that the eight "sounds" were being made by the apparatus driving the wheel? I've heard bad wheel bearings on a car make a rhythmic knocking...

re: In the beginning was the Word....

I always felt that Bessler was speaking poetically with the "one word" statement. As an example, if you're reading a spy novel a character might say,"I was undercover in the company of the enemy, and just a word might give me away". Like Bessler was saying if someone was close to...

Raj,
If you can get your wheel to work, you will not have to present a thesis to anyone. People will beat a path to your door and you can bask in the sunshine of your perseverance. Good luck to you.

Hey! You know Gerry Rafferty was the singer for Stealer's Wheel when they did the song "Stuck In The Middle With You". He went on to have 2 solo hits. "Baker Street" and "Right Down The Line". He was one of the best at double-tracking vocals.

Since you asked, I believe gravity is the energy source and I am attempting to change gravity into motion, much like changing motion into electricity.

re: Power to the people.

If you rotate it clockwise, the weights on the ascending side actually apply more force. If it rotates CCW, then your asking 1 active weight to lift 4 neutral weights. In my experience,it's a non-runner.

That's because there is no complete rotation. However, it does vaguely resemble Asa Jackson's wheel.

Hey silent, I did my first build in 1991 and didn't think I had any more ideas. But I've since done about 300 more builds ( my basement has barely room to walk ) and every time I think I'm out of ideas, here comes another one. If you look up specific MT's you will find that this forum has probably di...

Hello Gill, Wonderful concept and post! I don't understand how you would defeat the friction involved. It also looks balanced most of the time. I watched the animation and like cloud camper, I'm just not understanding how it will move correctly. One last thing. If it did work, how could you extract an...
