For my students
I just looked at the herons fountain and it dawned on me I could use the old dry well on our property. The idea is to use hydro-static pressure from the depth of the well to create a pressure hose to pressurizer an air tight tank at ground level. I would have to have a series of valves to turn on an...

Re: Different style of handles on .M.T wheels
Hey, Agor95. I don't see a mechanical advantage but all the drawings of his display wheels only use one style, the mt drawing show both.

Different style of handles on .M.T wheels
Hello, I don't see a topic on this. If there is be glad to erase. Does anyone know why the original drawings of the M.T. have 2 styles of hand cranks on the ends of the axels?

What is the most effective way to measure torque?
My way of measuring torque and counter torque is tedious and time consuming. 36 points around a wheel with a scale and finally adding them to see if they equal zero... what is the most common way or what way do you find the easiest and most accurate.

re: Current work
Hey art, I'll go with your advice. I did more testing but I'm convinced that there is no way to be sure of the results without making the entire wheel. In short because i am trying to separate the effects of mass and torque and place them in different places on the wheel it is proving impossible to ...

re: Current work
Thanks for your reply Fletcher. I know how boring this sounds.. ... "One more person who says they have....." but, first time in fourteen years to come up with an actual oob wheel...well, a disk. I was going to scavenge only because the idea was so simple, no way to forget how to make this...

re: Current work
Definately oob. Discovered by accident a way to move it more oob. Very nervous and puzzled what to do next. It can be made several different ways but there is a big key step that makes this work. It.s only about 8 ounces oob, but it could be made much larger. The one disk us only 20 9/16 dia. and th...

re: Current work
I used a digital 5kg scale with different settings of grams, kg, and ounces. The small wheel that is one of three i placed small pegs on the rim as posts to measure on the scale. One peg rested on the scale the other peg 180deg. opposite i placed on a wooden stand, i moved the wheel to each of the p...

re: Current work
This is an extremely long story, but I changed my design. I still kept the theory, but while thinking of what made me think it would work was a principal. When I changed the build there was no need to reset or have anything (gear) on the axle. In short... if possible, The design calls for 3 mechanis...

re: Current work
Johannesbender,
I played with that idea years ago....it is very interesting, but. The most i could come up with was a peddle powered swing for children and a self powered foucault pendulum.... with a small battery.
I found something interesting in it all though.

I always thought when Bessler said nothing was hanging off the axel he was disputing those that accused him of making a heavy clockwork mechanism.
