re: What if Bessler had revealed his wheel?

I heat my house entirely with wood, but I prefer to use old pallets that would otherwise be going to a landfill. I use an electric chainsaw that is powered by my solar setup. Unfortunately, it only powers my garage at this point in time. The added bonus of pallets is the nails I collect and cash in ...

re: Noo forum

I would let other people mix the cube up for me. I also liked fixing other people's cubes when I went to visit. When they were all the rage back in the 80's, I would ask a stranger if I could play with their cube and fix it for them in less time than it took to smoke a Marlboro. Everything you need ...

Actually, if the cube will still twist once you put it back together, it should work just like it did before you prised it apart.
My personal record is under three minutes to solve it by twisting to certain formulas.
Can I join too?

re: energy producing experiments

broli or pequaide,

Would it be possible for you to try the tape measure spring for a tether instead of a string or wire in your experiment?

Thanks,

re: Another idea to add to the mix

Pequaide, I know you don't like springs, but would it be possible to use a thin,, 1/2"to 3'4 inch piece of spring steel (picture a tape measure spring, kind of like the tape measure itself, but a different grade of steel, I think) instead of the cord on one of your devices? That way it would wr...

re: energy producing experiments

Hello all, I haven't posted in along time, but try and picture this. A gear/flywheel(say, a 100 lb.)with a one pound weight to start it turning. The one pound weight is released at 6:00, picture a rod falling which stops the gear/flywheel. At the exact time the weight falls off, a (previously releas...

re: Should we disallow anonymous posts?

While some of the anon posts are truly hilarious to read, it only takes a few minutes to register, and less than that to log in to post a mesage. I have voted to make a login required to post, even though I check this board daily to read. It might cut down on some of the Peyton Place stuff.(Dating m...

re: two different magnetic pmms

The shield material is hard to describe, both shape and material. It is kind of between a banana and a short horseshoe. Sometimes it looks ike some kind of stainless, sometimes I'm not sure what! The really small ones(1-2 gig) usually have really tghin magnets, while the bigger ones have thicker (3/...

re: two different magnetic pmms

Has anybody tried the magnets out of old hard drives? The magnets are usually the "rare earth" kind, extremely stong for there size(Unless you tear apart a REALLY old drive) and the metal that they are glued to is a very good shield. I took apart several old 18 gig SCSI drives and couldn't...

looks a lot like TechStuff's version! I bought spring steel to try it but haven't had time yet to do it. When I finally get out of school next spring I will keep this in mind.

I'll vote it's OK, but can't really say for sure yet! It looks good so far.
