An "odd" avalanche...
.....or "rotation due to deflection of weights",at:

Here,we have a dilemma :which one "tows" the another(the electrical machinery,or the assemblage of rotating wheels and weights ) ?!
As usually,any electric motor,attached...can lead to a skeptical first impression.
In my opinion,the real proof for a gravity powered device,must be a simple overbalanced "something".

If you compare the movement of a pendulum with that of a double-pendulum,you can find a "gate",for an "odd" quasi-continuous motion...(why not ?),useful for our forum,in my opinion.

Too small weights... too small and I think that due to this, the experience is not valid.
In my conception, 'avalanche-whatever' is the retention of several potentials as a sum, the smart liberation of it, AND for sure, if possible, its reposition.

What's in a name? Sometimes an appearance rather than reality.
An avalanche is an increasing mass sliding down,due to gravity,so can we call it as a momentum avalanche?
But when a falling mass is constant ?
The main problem of our forum is unbalance,continuous unbalance,torque difference on the same side of the fulcrum.
There are many imaginable manners to start an unbalance,but for the moment ,we have no proof for the ("self" ) reposition (to use your word...) of this starting unbalance...
About avalanche:it takes all sorts to make a word...

In my mini-logic I try to use names that can be significant and define the stuff under focus.
So, my 'avalanche' system means a mass that is composed by repetitive parts or sub-parts under 'g' helm...
... Thing that in nature may be generally uncontrollable... except if... 8)

Let's forget an endless talk about the semantics of "avalanche".
I used this word related to gravity fall (increasing momentum)...nothing related to the chain model.
You know better than me ,that the main point of your design is the "reposition"...an envisaging controllable jump of the repetitive equal parts,from one side of the fulctum,to another.
If I can find a "plain" solution,you will be the first to know...

Also the video show energy tranfer both ways.
I think one probably needs a triple pendulum for continuous motion + catches or one way clutches at appropriate junctures. But what one needs above all is a deep theoretical understanding of what is going on.

but showing a deep thinking,we can refer directly to the radial/normal acceleration that plays "like a hamster in a cage" in a multiple pendulum.
If we release,,free from the "floating/mobile" fulcrum and guide,show the way for this "hamster",it's possible to have good news for our topic...
