He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security.

He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.

If we restrict liberty to attain security we will lose them both.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

He who gives up freedom for safety deserves neither.

Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither.

Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security.
Ben Franklin

The courts said that if your government ask you to do something that you know is not legal you have to refuse. Which is exactly what Mr Snowden did .
Not exactly what he did, most people would quit their job and go home.

What do you call somebody who threatens to give national security documents to unfriendly governments. He was a whistleblower that turned into a traitor. He could have done lots of things different.

The only way to be a whistle blower it to blow the whistle. If you don't whistle, no one hears. If no one hear then nothing changes.

I have assumed all coms are swept for many years, so no surprise at all for me. And its possible for mail to be delayed for networking reasons?(tho this does not mean I think your not scanned like everyone). But i think the real issue is the balance between 'targeted/intelligence' and 'wholesale/random' surveillance. Just collecting and keeping everything etc. is too far.

What do you call somebody who threatens to give national security documents to unfriendly governments after they already blew the whistle? I call him a traitor; you can call him your hero if you like.

Mama pajama rolled out of bed
And she ran to the police station
When papa found out he began to shout
And he started the investigation

It's against the law

Oh what did mama saw ?

Mama looked down and spit on the ground
Every time my name gets mentioned
Then papa said oy if I get that boy

In a couple of days they come and
Take me away
But the press let the story leak
And when the radical priest
Come to get me released

typo:
"Assange" not "Assand"...julian assange
(assad, assand, assange, asshoz--i get em mixed up)
lemme see...

assange is the willileaks guy

the guy who gave him the stuff and just recently got sentenced to 35 years is named chelsea, now, i believe (true--the new york times even refers to him as chelsea--even though he hasn't got the sex change yet, because the gov isn't going to pay for it---though i think cutting his privy member off might not be THAT unjust---considering)

assand is the guy who shot up a zillion people screaming "allah o akbar!"--and they called it "work place violence"

and i think assad is that guy who's phone the govt is trying to tap--but they can't figure out how

yeah--that's it

This is an interesting interview. Three former NSA whistleblowers who had tried to go through the proper channels (but said they had failed) speak about what they say were the criminal violations of the NSA and government administration and also address the Snowden situation.

"3 NSA veterans speak out on whistle-blower: We told you so" (videos and transcript)

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/poli ... e/2428809/
Radack: I would thank him for taking such a huge personal risk and giving up so much of his life and possibly facing the loss of his life or spending it in jail. Thank him for doing that to try to help our country save it from itself in terms of exposing dark, illegal, unethical, unconstitutional conduct that is being done against millions and millions of people.

Drake: I actually salute him. I will say it right here. I actually salute him, given my experience over many, many years both inside and outside the system. Remember, I saw what he saw. I want to re-emphasize that. What he did was a magnificent act of civil disobedience. He's exposing the inner workings of the surveillance state. And it's in the public interest. It truly is.

Wiebe: Well, I don't want anyone to think that he had an alternative. No one should (think that). There is no path for intelligence-community whistle-blowers who know wrong is being done. There is none. It's a toss of the coin, and the odds are you are going to be hammered.
They basically said they thought he did the right thing going directly to the public - but they showed some concern that he may have shared too much in regards to the information concerning foreign surveillance.

They also said he should only be prosecuted after all those in the government who were a part of what they believed to be illegal activities were.

Another interview with one of the above whistleblowers:

"NSA Whistleblower: Everyone in US under virtual surveillance, all info stored, no matter the post"

I figured that you would catch that one. The last time the UN inspectors were there to check out a chemical attack, they came back and said it was the rebels that had used them. This time they had a different mandate, basically just they where sent to Syria, to confirm if chemical weapons were used, but not who used them. That's when I realized we were in trouble.

The war propaganda machine keeps pumping out the same crap, they used to get support for the Irak war. They show the same images of the victims every night . They tell the American people that it will be short and easy, and that there going there for humanitarian reasons.

What they fail to mention is that Syria has a treaty with Iran. If one is attacked the other will defend it. The ultimate prize is Iran., Syria doesn't have much oil

I hope I'm wrong, but I can see this one out of control real quick. In the end America will win, but at what cost?....and is it necessary. Syria didn't threaten the US or Isreal

ever since i saw that documentary about TWA flight 800---i can't believe ANYTHING

they filmed guys entering the wreckage shed--caught guys switching tags
they CAUGHT a guy pounding metal plates with a friggin hammer
then they found explosive residue on the plane parts
and when they said dog training for sniffing explosives had been conducted on that plane, earlier--that was PROVEN to be false--beyond doubt

"what about THAT?"...(crickets)
and then they think telling me it was a random internal tank explosion is gonna make me feel better?

now this
they got rebels frikkin CONFESSING they accidentally opened a weapon that had been given to them by the saudis (but the saudis never told other rebel groups which group they had given them to
and they didn't tell them what they were
or how to use them)

and that goddam tv just brazenly keeps yapping the bs line

i realized if they could stonewall the flight 800 thing
they THINK they can stonewall anything

just keep repeating the bs line on the mainstream channels
and who cares if 10%
20%
hell WHATEVER% read otherwise on the internet
or see some documentary on some cable channel

it's in the open now
it's bald faced now
basically they're just saying
fuck you what're ya gonna do about it?--we still have this huge dumbed down herd of total idiots to vote for us
total deep psychedelic BLACK ignorance
and if they try to get together....we got the 'demo against repub' thing to split them
tell both sides the OTHER side is to blame

it's the three card monte--but they feel yer so stupid they only need two cards
a dumbed down shell game, but
instead of three shells to confuse...THIS idiot mark (US--they think) only requires two shells
and neither has a damn pea under it

So, has the main stream media either in the USA or elsewhere picked up on the supposedly Saudi Supply to Rebels link & published about it ? - and was there follow up articles & investigative analysis by journalists to confirm or deny the information & intelligence source & accuracy about that supposed link ? - were investigative pieces published in main stream that I can read or do I have to rely on "Before It's News" & the like where conspiracy plots & mass psychosis is the norm, & probably completely unreliable in 99% of cases ?

I don't deny that the rebels could have engineered the gas attack, or so could have the Syrian establishment, perhaps to escalate mid east tensions & push the region to a final war - who knows what agendas are in play here.

I would think however that any American plan to once again play world policeman, judge, jury, & hangman, might need a bit of credible & provable evidence that is way beyond 'reasonable doubt' - I would expect good journalists & analysts to have that information now - since American government is looking very publicly at a surgical retaliatory response against the Syrian dictatorship forces then I assume they have incontrovertible evidence & that they have shared it with other UN & world powers before going public ?

Maybe I assume to much & American is playing out its own agenda & regional interests, which it also looks like & we've seen before.
