Bessler's Ersatz Gravity Wheel?

Post by Grimer »

If Newtonian Gravity can be harnessed for a power wheel I see no reason why Ersatz Gravity cannot also be harvested.

The principles of the Gravity Pulse Motor Mark 5 could equally be applied by a space ship traveller to his Ersatz Gravity field. If I can see this, so could Bessler.

Maybe this is what Bessler was working on when he fell to his death. I seems more likely than he taking a backward step to constructing a conventional windmill.

Hi Grimer

If you are suggesting Bessler was working on a horizontal perpetual wheel and not a horizontal windmill as believed by many, I agree because it's easy to get a 4 to 1 set up in your favour with said configuration.
Maybe he didn't just fall but was pushed to his death by his wheel, when loading it.

Yep. That's precisely what I'm suggesting.

Funnily enough I came up with a scheme how one might harness Ersatz Gravity. It entailed acting against the inertia of dumbbell free to rotate at the ends of arms radiating from a central axle. Here are one of the drawings I posted.

The basic idea was that by accelerating and decelerating the heavy dumbbells one created couples which would drive the whole wheel.

I didn't pursue the idea at the time since I thought it best to concentrate on the simpler solution to the Keenie.

Unfortunately I can't give a link to the post because I haven't been able to find it.

Now the traveller in a space ship will not have the huge inertia of the earth to act as a sink for his angular momentum increase. But he will have the inertia of the rest of the space ship which will be very large compared with his Bessler Wheel equivalent.

To prevent the ship's rotation and consequent Ersatz gravity from excessive change one will have to arrange any internal BWs to rotate in opposite directions.
