welcome to the forum johnl285
personally, I wouldn't spend too much energy on people who don't engage the concepts presented and only make generalized derogatory statement if they don't like something. Just let them be.

jtolan,
Good point, do not attempt to sell something to someone who is not interested. It only causes hardship on both.
After being diagnosed with terminal congestive heart failure, I was visited by a protestant priest. He discussed my readiness to meet the hereafter for over two hours in an attempt to win me over before my demise.
When he finally left his captive audience (me) he went home. Two hours later he had a massive heart attacked and died on the way to the hospital. That priest was my wife's brother in-law. I am now partially supporting my sister in-law whom is living with my wife and I now. And yes she brought her religion with her.

i want to help, i'm willing to go through hardship. ovyyus, if you're interested, we can go by this line by line. there is current scientific evidence which verifies biblical text from thousands of years ago.
underwater research vessels cannot currently even pierce the depths of the pacific floor, but sonar technology can give us a topography. mariana's trenches and mountain ranges are found and mapped under the ocean. it can be found in the bible, that God revealed about such.

Christians are commanded to spread the Good Word by their Savior.
I was born and Baptized as a Protestant but am not active in any organized group (or any disorganized, or unorganized for that matter), but, I understand what that calling is and do not resent it when ANY religion blesses me! [I can use ALL of it I can get, believe me!]
That many might not be too strong in their faith and seek outside validation by bringing others 'to faith', this can certainly be part of the over-push that we all perceive on occassion, I agree, but so what?
I say let's cut 'em some slack, take the bessing with thanks, and chill out! (VERY strange verbiage for the Primemigionite!)

no, you don't get fries with that.
and i'm not sure if our savior "commanded" all members to spread the word. i think in the bible he said to pray for laborers in the harvest. i think in other writings possibly by paul, that christians may act as different parts that serve a function and work together as a whole body. it may not be the command for every single christian to be evangelists.
ovyyus, if you want to go line by line with me, you can. atheist arguments are such: the bible is an ancient text written, and copied over and over. mistakes and changes might be made. the counter argument is that the bible was the first book printed by gutenberg. the bible, all of it, can be written by only second-hand sources. by ancient scholars who've quoted it. it is the most widely existing text in history. there is an importance to this. more than greek philosopher writings, medieval playwright materials, the bible in quantity supersedes them all.
another atheist argument may be contradictions in biblical text. again, ovyyus if you want to go line by line with me, you can. we can as lawyers in a courtroom over evidences. my counter-argument, is that there are many contradictions in life. guns for example. policemen may have them for protection, but criminals shouldn't. you can go into a medical encyclopedia, find one statement on page 146 then turn to page 784 and find a "contradiction." such as vaccines. one set of medical procedure is to intake antibiotics against a bacterial infection, but on another section, there is written in the big book that a beneficial immune response can be gained by injecting a patient with active microbes!

One of the basic rules in marketing is never say 'no'. It would have been more effective if you had said something like, "yes, you can have fries with that, but only if you upsize".no, you don't get fries with that.

re: this one's for ovyyus
First let me say that i am glad this is in the off topic forum.
John,
I do not know iff ovyyus is interested in taking you on one line at a time. But seeing how confident you are in your willing to argue maybe you can help me in the following.
First, in Genesis it states that God created the earth in 7days, but yet he did not create day and night first. So what is seven days based on and how long was a day in Gods eye. Was it millions of our years allowing for his creation to be accomplished in an evolutionary time cycle.
Second, Also in Genesis we read that Adam and Eve bore Cain, the eldest and first son and then Able. Cain slays his brother Able and goes into the land of Nod where he meets his wife. Who was his wife and where did her conceivement begin and by who? Was she his sister, making us all bastards and inbreds.
If you can answer these two questions in such matter that a layman as myself can understand, then and only then would I care to respond to any more of your posts.

re: this one's for ovyyus
Interesting.
It would seem that I am now down into the red once again, this directly after my posting what I did. I do wonder why. Might it have to do with this religious issue? Should I not have revealed that I am not a member of the "true" religion (or not yet, at least), nor a stupid atheist?
If this is so, then I am out of here . . . such company I would not wish to keep.
James
P.S. I do note that our Herr Bessler was a Protestant Christian, and the good Landgrave Karl, a Protestant Christian prince. Are we now to give them negative rep. too?

re: this one's for ovyyus
James,
There is a very big difference between having a religious faith and being religiously obnoxious by trying to push ones religious ideas into other peoples face.
It's like you own a car that you're perfectly happy with and a car salesman intrudes into your home saying your car is no good and you must buy his brand. You tell him to take a hike.
I'm not here at the Bessler forum to listen to other people about religion!
A discussion about some aspect of Bessler's religious beliefs might be appropriate. Discussions about his wheels and perpetual motion wheel ideas are most appropriate.
Most members understand this. Those that keep pushing religion into our faces will get bad reputations.
Just my opinion.

I learned a long time ago that to enter into a religious debate is to invite "conflict".
As a matter of fact much of this worlds tribulations are a direct result of religious differences. So I stay away.

my real name is john. vyrne@hotmail.com
i'm the one that also replied to your original post about the self-proclaimed prophet and ufos.
i'm not trying to push this on anyone, i'm trying to convince at least 51% like a lawyer in a courtroom trying to win a civil court case. as you may know o.j. simpson was found liable this way. all one needs is at least a 51% sway.
i will attempt to give you answers to the 2 questions. i understand this is an off-topic branch of the forum. i do not claim to have perfect faultless answers.
1. i was born in new york city. i did not see with my 2 eyes what happened in the beginnings of creation of our world, our humanity. light waves reflecting off the surroundings and stimulating the retinas. this process did not occur to me in real time. evolution is garbage and did not occur. like the star wars the movie, "far far away millions of years ago" or whatever, evolution touts to be able to occur. stanley miller's experiment is garbage, 98% tar? take a look at this interesting article written by a doctor and another person. http://www.yfiles.com/origin.html
it is my thinking that 7 days... mean 7 days. i am not 100% sure. it's possible there is a certain physical degradation of the earth's revolutions around the sun, so possibly every year the scientific calendar must be slightly adjusted which can make an early genesis day about 24 hours and 0.18 minutes according to an atomic clock or whatever. it is scientifically measureable by astronomers i think that the moon every year slings farther and farther away from the earth. here is another interesting article about this phenomena. http://www.scienceagainstevolution.org/v4i2f.htm

2. i do not know. i'm thinking, yes, a brother was with a sister. genetically, they have may have been pure so they wouldn't be affected by incest offspring genetic defects, since mutational information for defective traits can be mixed and expressed if 2 children receive them from the parents. try to think back to the time possibly. no tv, no airplanes, no radio, no computers. according to genesis, it never rained, never snowed i think. in the amish community, certain genetic deformities prompt them to seek outside intervention with modern medical technology. take a look at this interesting article: http://www.genomenewsnetwork.org/articl ... 3/sids.php
it may be possible since God made the world perfect in the beginning, that there were few or no genetic mistranslations after familial copulation. so there is a genetic perspective to try to answer your second question. in american life, there is also a cultural condemnation against incest. in those times, without an american cheeseburger nor rock stars, incest may have been ok
