NEWS FLASH!! Fcdriver has a working wheel!!!!
Moderator: scott
Torque calculations like this do not apply because I use a double pivot lever. From a 10 lb weight I get 15 lbs of imbalance in the wheel. It takes less than 2 lbs of imbalance to lift. That would mean while lifting three and dropping one, there is 10 lbs of imbalance on the wheel at 43 inches from the axle. This by your calculator it would be 48 newtons, I guess?

Using "mechanical advantage", or a basic fact of leverage: If you are lifting 3 and dropping 1, your leverage ration should be around 3:1. any more, and you can't lift the required amount to maintian weights at the top, any less and the single weight will not lift the 3. This is of course dependant on how many degrees and to what height you are lifting/dopping weight. From a 10 lb weight I get 15 lbs of imbalance in the wheel. It takes less than 2 lbs of imbalance to lift. That would mean while lifting three and dropping one, there is 10 lbs of imbalance on the wheel at 43 inches from the axle.
There was another member who couldn't understand how leverage worked in his design, and maintained it would work for years.
This same problem applies to all gravity wheels trying to use a different radius to drop and lift weights, even if you are unable to see the link.
I beleive you have made this same mistake, and prematurely claimed success.

Fcdriver,
Having the empirical skills, aptitude and resources to construct what you claim to have, I fail to understand why you evade the request to install a simple Prony Brake. Compound leverage is not an exceptionable excuse, a Prony brake is attached to the output shaft regardless of how the machine is made or functions.
Your continued response of how much weight you must add and/or subtract does not IMO fulfill the descriptive needs of how much in joules or foot pounds your machine is capable of. To promote your device, it would be of great assistance to know its capability in watts.

Build a simple Prony Brake to determine wheel output.
More details are here: http://my.voyager.net/~jrrandall/PronyB ... Brake.html

How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?
Re: re: NEWS FLASH!! Fcdriver has a working wheel!!!!
if I have 15 lbs with one arm and 10 lbs while lifting three, would that not be the exact same as what you are asking for? Why does it matter if my reference is 43 inches or 12 inches long?rlortie wrote:Fcdriver,

re: NEWS FLASH!! Fcdriver has a working wheel!!!!
It matters because 43 inch-pounds is not the same as 12 inch-pounds.
But for all practical purposes, I do not believe you have a self-sustaining machine capable of producing surplus power.
As such, any farther communication with you is a waste of your time and mine!
I wish you luck, and hope someone can explain what does and does not matter.

Well when I finish moving it, and before I finish my video, I'll be sure to go out and buy a bathroom scale, attach a 1x2, to satisfy your info requirements
I have a 12 " pulley wheel on it, would it be cheating to attach it there? Any other requirements/tests you would like to be covered in my video

Fcdriver, so you apply leverage in some mysterious way... (I can't make heads or tails from your descriptions)
Does it run continuously, or do you think it runs?
But if it physically runs, what kind of tests did you perform?
Like the basics: estimated maximum speed, how long does it take to get there, or when you attach a weight to the wrong side then at what radius will it stall.
Add:
To easiest way to do a speed test is to pin a post-it (or similar) to the wheel and simply count. A simpler way is record it and post a sound-file: then probably someone will do it for you.

As I type this, I am in the very face of God Almighty. I am prostrate before Him. My very right cheek is on the marble floor of my kitchen. It's tile, it isn't marble but hey, I can't afford marble.Fcdriver wrote:First second or third run? The first five minutes, I wasn't ready and broke it stopping it.
Now I'm asking you, Driver. Did you speak the truth here? God is your witness. I've asked Him to be.
Have you lied to us?
Fear not. You can keep my green dot. I'm not it it for the green dots.
"That's Bessler's peacock."
isn't that special.
