James (Jim) Kelly
James Kelly Joined us on June 22, and made 9 posts the last being July 6,. That was long enough and well ployed on his part to make a lasting impression on me. The forum as a whole took his statements with doubt as is reflected on most new members.
I begin a private communique with Jim and found him to be all he claimed and more. We have become very close and averaged a minimum of two phone calls and as many e-mails per day.
It is now my sad obligation to report that Mr. Kelly in in the hospital as of this morning under intensive care for arterial defibulation.
His wife has called me twice today to keep me updated. and to pray for him. I in turn ask those of the forum to please do the same.
This man knows his time is limited and it is/was his goal to pass on to one or more of us his knowledge regarding perpetual engines.

re: James (Jim) Kelly
I wish Jim well, Ralph. When I was quite young my family lived across from the Maple Grove drag way in the 60's, Jim might have raced there.I remember reading about Jim Kelly in Hot Rod magazine. Was he known as the snake.Don Garlits was mongoose,I believe they raced against each other.I hope he makes it through.Best wishes
Work with gravity and gravity will work for you. There are more than two sides to a wheel.
re: James (Jim) Kelly
Joel,
I do not know if Jim was called the snake, but Garlits the mongoose later become known as "Big Daddy" in the hall of fame.
Yes Jim did race against Garlits and did beat him in two different runs.
Jim was very innovative in his day and once used a boat outboard motor to power a supercharger. He was disqualified for having a two engine car which was not allowed in his class.

I too was in contact with James, and he seems very sincere.
After asking him to clarify what his intensions were by his posts, he then e-mailed me and said I was the first on the forum that he was contacting.
I think he has a powerful mind, and I believe he has already seen PM by his own discovery.
When he gave me his telephone number, I called him.
I believe he was unsure if he wanted to proceed into details without guidance from God, which he told me right away that he prayed almost continuously.
He wanted to show others before, but he said they just wanted it handed over to them . I think he was hurt by the fact that he wanted to share, but trusted people let him down.
When he started getting sick he said he would get back to me when he could, but did not.
He also mentioned other inventions, and some relationship to The design of Craftsmen tools.
Ralph thanks for posting this, and if you find out where to send a note , maybe he would enjoy hearing from some of us while in care.

re: James (Jim) Kelly
I wish everyone the best in both health and luck. But what I just can't understand is what James wants. I asked him that very question and he didn't answer. He's obviously had the time to converse with several people here on the forum, but still there seems nothing has come from it all. Why?
I just can't imagine why at the end of your 'innings' that there is anything else to loose or protect. Sorry, it just doesn't any make sense to me. I guess I'd do it very differently if I had something substantial to offer at the end of my life. I'd have no more games to play. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. What's going on with this?

First let me mention that Ralph may be going in for a tune up.
I am letting everyone know, because he has been so involved with this forum.
I hope he dose not mind me telling this to everyone.
Maybe he can let us know a little bit more on when and why.
Ralph is near James age, and has been open to almost any communications be it forum or face to face as I understand.
He also may shed more light on the James Kelly saga.

Thanks for being persistent and not giving into a few waves of motion going one direction.
The only thing I can come up with from my short interactions with James Kelly is this.
1. His posts were a bit unusual and not exactly clear until later.
this is not unusual for myself too.
my thought on this was he was not exactly sure he should or wanted to tell anyone his most personal discovery.
He also said people have wanted him to just hand his machine, and all his work and study of his life to them and has had the experience of total loss after doing so with other ideas. He did say his design was stolen by craftsmen tools.
2. You along with others on the thread tried to (in his eyes and mind) push him for answers.
I think he has seen and experienced many different realms of life, and his age comes into play, where he may be from the old school and have a firm principal he lives by. This may not work for him in the fast pace lifestyles of youth. Youth meaning (65 or younger)
His principals may be stronger and more set than current trend , and he may have slightly older than he actually is merit with it.
To sum up what I think.
James Kelly may chose someone who he feels has respect and experience to carry this forward.
He may be slightly afraid that he was suppose to reveal his gift to mankind before he dies.

re: James (Jim) Kelly
I think its between him and his maker, its Jim's to do what he thinks fit and if that means sharing it with the world or taking to his grave well its not our business.
Jim will do the right thing by him and that's all that maters.
The answer will be found soon, trust me.
Pete.

re: James (Jim) Kelly
My thoughts and best wishes go out to Jim Kelly.
I'm probably one of the people that he thinks were "pushing" him for information, since I made a post asking if he had a picture of his machine. I wasn't expecting to see any secrets revealed. Just thought he might be able to share something, even if only an overview of the outside. It sounds like he's encountered a lot of greedy people (sadly, that's the majority) and also had intellectual property stolen from him. With that in mind it's understandable why he's reluctant to discuss anything.
Making claims of a working PMM on a public forum can't help but raise questions though. I hope he realizes that not all of us are "digging", but rather can't help being curious.

re: James (Jim) Kelly
Wheeler, I understand your point of view.
I never asked James for any information about his work, I asked him what he wanted. He saw that as a paranoid question, whereas I see that as a starting point. Always good to know what someone wants so you don't go wasting their time and yours.
Of course James will make up his own mind about how best to deal with his own business. I think most people with broad experiences have been ripped off enough times in their travels to be wary about just giving something away. Especially when they may get absolutely nothing in return - or worse still, have all credit stolen.
The fact remains that James does seem to want to act on this in some way or he wouldn't have mentioned it in the first place. I don't think he wants to just reveal his work to the World otherwise he'd have done that already. Perhaps he's looking for the 'right person'? What does he really want - I still don't know.
I wish James an easier decision and some peace of mind.

Forum,
As wheeler stated above, I am being recalled or I should say my pacemaker is. it seems that there has been a number of failures with a magnetic internal control switch. THe US goverment has demanded a recall on approx 24,000 units and I have one of them. I am reporting in to the hospital on the 20th for major overhaul.
I talked to Jims wife today and informed that he is improving somewhat.
Bill, you are absoutly correct in the statement that Jim is looking for the right person. I believe that a lot of his first posts were intentionaly set out as bait in hopes of finding the person he felt had the knowledge and respect, as well as the aptitude and innovation to see his project through.
Yes, he has to make up his own mind and that is what he intends, The man is sharp enough to plan ahead in his search by uing his first posts as a ploy to bring out those he concidered worthy of working with.
cw,
Yes, greedy people play a huge act in this story! The Craftsman rip- off that wheeler speaks of was the now popular "Racheting combination end wrench. Please understand that this is his words not mine. But I do Know that Caftsman is good for stealing ideas. They got the ratchet drive wrench with the socket release button the same way, this I know for fact.
Jim may have come accross as being a little odd. Once again I say that this was a premeditaded approach by a very sharp man. A man shrewed in manipulating a desired outcome.
He has asked questions that would obviouly leave one to wonder if he realy had anything to offer. Did he find perpetual motion years ago as claimed?
In reply to Petes above post it is up to his maker as well as mine. Jim has expressed a great longing to find the right people and resources to duplicate what he built years ago. I now am being considered as one of such team, and only hope my own health sees me through it to the end.
Pete states the answer will be found soon. Trust Pete as he is correct and has poven himself in my eyes to be as reputable as Jim.
I believe that he has found what he was looking for and will be passing his legacy down soon whether it be before or after God calls him home.
Due to my own ethics about not reveling confidential communications, this is about all I can say for now.
I will inform the Kelly family of each indiviuals thoughts and wishes, but for now he and his wife wish to be secluded. "Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door" What this old phrase does not say is "The world could care less about your health, where is the mouse trap".
Having generated such great respect and admiration for Jim in such a short time is a rare experience for me. I employed my own ploy to meet his and it was a checkmate.
To those he first wrote privately, you must have made if through his first mental gauntlet. If you had no more response then I would say you failed the second test.
Do I believe this man has something to offer? Yes I do!

That's what he claimed (1963 & working models since, IIRC).Ralph wrote:He has asked questions that would obviouly leave one to wonder if he realy had anything to offer. Did he find perpetual motion years ago as claimed?
I hope you & Pete get the opportunity to judge for yourselves before to long. I do trust you both to "keep your eyes wide open". Will it have practical application & useable power I wonder ?
It will be one wild ride if he can back up his claims & one big let down if he can't. All the same, I wish him & you a speedy recovery.
re: James (Jim) Kelly
Fletcher,
Yes you can trust me, and when I repeat Petes statement "It wont be long" you can trust him.
Right now the only hold up is that clause you find in all well written contracts and that is the statement; "Not responsible for acts of God"
We have been waiting for over 300 years to find the truth of Besslers claims and historic/alleged data. With that number as an equation, how many days, weeks, months, years would you consider "soon". One year would only be 1/300, not a very big fraction in my thinking.
As for James kelly's claim of having found it, we should have satisfaction of the truth one way or the other soon. I would give myself some leeway or margin of error of a couple of months, accounting for my scheduled trip to the hospital.
In the meantime, keep drawing from the deck, as we do not have a royal flush just yet.
I know we are all impatient, but Rome was not built in a day, as a matter of fact it still is not finished.

Update on Jim,
Jim is still in intensive care and only immediate family is allowed short visits to see him.
He has been diagnosed as having a blood clot in his heart. they are treating this with high doses of Coumadin, better known as "Rat poison"
His wife is running interference as there has been a large response from friends, relatives and info seekers attempting to see him.
she is not saying anything to him relating to the wheel or this forum, she said Jim is thinking about it all the time and needs to put his mind at rest.
