So Jim I am still waiting for a reply of why you should get special treatment.christo4_99 was not allowed to present a quick sketch or vague concept and claim success, but then you give yourself the privilege of claiming success with a vague concept.

It wouldn't be #4 would it Jim.
The Seven Deadly Sins of Narcissism:
Shamelessness: Shame is the feeling that lurks beneath all unhealthy narcissism and the inability to process shame in healthy ways.
Magical thinking: Narcissists see themselves as perfect, using distortion and illusion known as magical thinking. They also use projection to dump shame onto others.
Arrogance: A narcissist who is feeling deflated may reinflate by diminishing, debasing, or degrading somebody else.
Envy: A narcissist may secure a sense of superiority in the face of another person's ability by using contempt to minimize the other person.
Entitlement: Narcissists hold unreasonable expectations of particularly favorable treatment and automatic compliance because they consider themselves special. Failure to comply is considered an attack on their superiority, and the perpetrator is considered an "awkward" or "difficult" person. Defiance of their will is a narcissistic injury that can trigger narcissistic rage.
Exploitation: Can take many forms but always involves the exploitation of others without regard for their feelings or interests. Often the other is in a subservient position where resistance would be difficult or even impossible. Sometimes the subservience is not so much real as assumed
.
Bad boundaries: Narcissists do not recognize that they have boundaries and that others are separate and are not extensions of themselves. Others either exist to meet their needs or may as well not exist at all. Those who provide narcissistic supply to the narcissist are treated as if they are part of the narcissist and are expected to live up to those expectations. In the mind of a narcissist there is no boundary between self and other.

Welcome at this bar.
Please don't mind the deconstructive look.
From wikipediaBut .. it raises the question off association - is a polymath necessarily intelligent or is a polymath ability highly correlated to intelligence ?
Perseverance is key here: "a man can do all things if he will" + "people should embrace all knowledge and develop their capacities as fully as possible". Intelligence or being "gifted" seems to help.wiki:polymath wrote:The term was first used in the 17th century; the related term, polyhistor, is an ancient term with similar meaning.
The term is often used to describe great thinkers of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment who excelled at several fields in science and the arts. In the Italian Renaissance, the idea of the polymath was expressed by Leon Battista Alberti (1404–1472), in the statement that "a man can do all things if he will".[3] Embodying a basic tenet of Renaissance humanism that humans are limitless in their capacity for development, the concept led to the notion that people should embrace all knowledge and develop their capacities as fully as possible. This was expressed in the term "Renaissance man" which is often applied to the gifted people of that age who sought to develop their abilities in all areas of accomplishment: intellectual, artistic, social and physical.
I think there's a difference in learning quickly [as in: blindly memorizing knowledge], and intelligent behavior [as in: applying knowledge to an unknown situation... which only now becomes new knowledge].
An IQ test is mostly about recognizing a pattern quickly: which could be either knowledge or intelligence.
But I agree, for a polymath knowledge needs to have come via intelligence: perhaps an undetectable distinction.
It was Jim's own (proposed) definition all along... there was no vote, no general acceptance, not a law for all to follow not even by himself.ovyyus wrote:The whole point of a definition is that it is 'something that works' for everyone. That was the case until JM decided it didn't suit his agenda.ME wrote:It obviously "works" for him, not for the rest of us.
Very "nice" of Jim to share his definition. Perhaps we can convert that list for our own benefit, but that doesn't mean it works as-it-is for all.... Possibly he stumbled over his own definition himself.
yes I read some of it some time ago: A personal clash or a personality clash, whatever... It eventually became a nasty site-wide battle from both sides.daxwc wrote:Believe me you had to follow it close and it is impossible to catch up on all the drama now.
Another one's Ego is not My problem. If you honestly believe he is a polymath or he is only stubborn fine, but mediation through polishing his ego only feeds him.
I have no idea if he's a "true" polymath; I guess that needs some more insight in how he acquired his knowledge - also not relevant for all but Jim.
But I do believe Jim is stubborn...

Daxwc, I've never asked for special attention. But attention follows me like a puppy dog.
Way back then, it was obvious that Christo4_99 was a moron. (See http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/viewt ... oron#86558 ) I attempted to lower my post to his level so we could communicate. And in the process I wrote: "First get something that works!" This means a working wheel, not just a concept or idea." I have never before or since described the first step in this manner or way. And I will never again describe the first step in that manner. Such was a mistake by me back then and an error on my part. From the many other posts where MY PLAN was discussed, it is very evident that MY meaning of the first step was to First get something viable.
Even the great and powerful Ovyyus wrote: Step 1: solve the problem. Thus, even he agreed that the first step was to solve the problem, and was not the building of a working wheel. The solution must first be envisioned, then analyzed, then built as the final certification.

Ahhhh… you sort of side stepped your entitlement issue. So again why do you give yourself the privilege of claiming success with a vague concept? We are still waiting for the answer.Jim: Daxwc, I've never asked for special attention. But attention follows me like a puppy dog.

What has happened since Tue May 10, 2011 7:29 pm Jim?Jim Quote: The guy who actually rediscovers Bessler's wheel will be accepted.
Guys that pop in and claim they have discovered Bessler's wheel before they actually built it, they will NOT be accepted. They simply come across as acting like a fool.
Christo, you are not the first fool to proclaim you have done what is considered to be impossible. What is that saying? "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof."

Could be time to inform Michigan Social Services.
Anyone this far out of whack will be whisked into a van and be put with others that cannot separate fantasy from reality.
There will be many supportive people there that will be happy to listen to stories of Bessler, how he became a polymath and discovered PM.

re: Polymath
In 2011 Christo4_99 asked the forum (not JM specifically) a question:
JM then replied telling Christo4_99 what he would do:Christo4_99 wrote:What would you guys do if you discovered it?
JM has never told anyone else to follow his 'PLAN' because it is JM's 'PLAN' and, as he has stated many times, it is only applicable to JM. Thus JM was telling Christo4_99 what he would do. Clearly JM's definition of 'First get something that works!' has changed since 2011. Yet he continues his charade.jim_mich wrote:My 'PLAN'... I posted this a while back. The first item on my list is "First get something that works!" This means a working wheel, not just a concept or idea.

There is evidence all over if one wanted to spend the time. He will never admit it. He could have his mouth full of elephant shit and would tell you it is ice cream.Yet he continues his charade.
