Henry Dirck's,"Perpetuum Mobile" book download in

Post by wikiwheel »

Found this on http://books.google.com/
There are many others...

search under "perpetual motion"
http://books.google.com/books?q=perpetu ... arch+Books

many "natural philosophy" books from the early 1800's which show the prevailing thoughts on physics.

many are heavily footnoted, with many names we've heard about, Wolfe, Gravesand, etc.

Dirck's book is over 8 mb in size so you will have to do your own searching and downloading. This forum only allows .pdf files upload of 256k or less.

Mik

I note that the reference to the book by Dircks quotes publication as 1870, which is correct, but did you know that that is volume 2? Volume one came out in 1861 and is even longer. I have both volumes and in mine, vol 1, is 558 pages and vol 2, 368 pages.

I was also pleased to see a review copy of my book along side Dircks's.

I see that in Dirck's book that pendulums were present during the tests and he quotes bessler as using the word "swinging".

What were the sources for these translations? Anybody have Dirck's papers and notes?

Mik

Also, the theory that Bessler deliberately fooled his maid to think she was turning the wheel, so she would supposedly spread that around.

That would be a good way to have takers of his challenges come forward, then he could destroy them with a genuine demonstration and get the money that way.

Anybody agree that this is what actually happened, and that his arrest would have actually added to his credibility----but only if somebody stepped forward to be smashed with his hammer!!!!???? A risky move that didn't pan out in the end!

Neat page, iacob.

And indeed, every design on that page will never work.
