.....has a long history ("Mariotte-Leibniz pendulum problem" ).
Some details at: www.laurentkneip.de/pendulum.html
The way of theory is long, the practical one is short...
A common mechanical clock pendulum ,moves symmetrically vs. vertical line of the gravity field.
Really,Milkovic's and Feltenberger's pendulum are playing asymmetry face to gravity (and inertia...),if we take into account the pendulum's mobile fulcrum and the retrieve/restore of the normal acceleration.
An asymmetry can open a gate to take out the "difference..."?!

re: Asymmetric swinging...
.....of Milkovic"s and Feltenberger"s pendular arrangements introduces a new situation:the vertical reference line of swinging...so strange...becomes a curving one.
It's like we "arching",bending the gravity fall...some test can open a new way to imagine some "new games" !
Asymmetry is the lhe lack of the symmetry or of the balance.
The main point of a possible gravity powered device is the unbalance, the continuous self-unbalance...
Firstly we play swinging motion, afterwards we play rotation, and moreover:we can try the self-rotation !

.....on vertical axis , as a chaotic motion ,due to wind , you can see at :
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQDsdWaX6wc
You can play the same "design" , on hprizontal axis , as swinging motion due to gravity unbalance...

.....due to gravity and inertia , of an. "assisted " gravity pendulum , if we minimize (two spare parts , only ) and play face to the vertical line an " old " proposal ( three spare parts ) :
www.geocities.ws/iacob_alex/Some_Drafts/text032.jpg
A single mass-bar can play asymmetric swinging pendulum (on the same side of the vertical line ) due to a sliding connection with an in-out rotational motion storage of a flywheel on the same side of the vertical line.
