My concept was similar and had tried to use piezoelectric materials but didn't used the piezoelectric material.Image uploaded on flickr:

What I suggested as a concept was analogous to a bowl with water filled on right half on a divided bowl,with a ball lifted up with little energy such that acceleration is roughly negative of 9.8 m/s.Then the ball is released and increase in resistance on right half of the bowl recovers the supplied energy while converting more gravitational energy due to resistance into usable energy.

The challenge of gravity as energy source is that its continuous and a mechanism is required to create a variance in the gravitational energy.

A real gravity engine is not a perpetual motion machine but rather a energy converter and very well obeys the 3 laws of thermodynamics.

A perpetual motion machine is a hypothetical machine that can do work indefinitely without an energy source.There is a energy source of gravitational energy and hence not perpetual.

The inventor doesnot mention the exact mechanism but his interview is covered by reputed media like reuters and hence trustable.

For the succcesful development of gravity engines, its important to understand that the only way to create a gravity powered engine is to convert the continous gravitational force to a gravitational force which can have variance.
