Art,

I've always let the crowd rush forward as they enter an analytical sheep-pen and protest the latest virtue signalling cause.
I much prefer to just stand on the top of the hill and watch with some amusement as people try to out do each other in the 'outraged' stakes, noting that over the life of the Earth, any fluctuations in metric now is just a fart in the wind of time.

Indeed ! , as is the human race and the biosphere on which it depends !

It does seem though that we should have a responsibility to our "dependant" progeny , at least to try and give them the training , knowledge and what ever resources we don't need to squander so that they can see how their "fart in the wind" goes .

Chris , you obviously don't seem to realise how serious the current World situation actually is , and thats a bit of a worry ! , because if a well educated "man of Science " such as yourself and others on this forum don't , then things are looking pretty grim .

Do me a favour and Google some of the topics in the above post .

Art,

I think that there is sufficient Awareness of Enviromental issues, that me contracting hysteria about Global Warming? won't make a difference.

At best I don't care. At worst, I still don't care because my personal environmental impact is zero ( except after a curry )

Hopefully I won't have to take such drastic measures to protect my air conditioner! ...for the air conditioner thieves will likely be taken out by heat stroke on their way here. ;P

ETA: ...uh oh... Maybe I should prepare my bow and arrows! We seem to be in a bit of a cooling spell. We were only four or five degrees above normal today.

In the interest of trying to determine whether you might be pointing out something relevant I have just watched the video clip ,

- and really Chris , I am astounded that you could seriously consider that , whether the bank does or does not loan a person money for a Florida condominium investment , could possibly be used as an intelligent metric in any logical conversation about the problem .

But that video certainly does illustrate what our biggest challenge as a species is though :-

People who fart through their mouths are just further adding to the atmospheric pollution part of the Global Climate issue.

"At best I don't care. At worst, I still don't care .." is at least more logical but it does show tremendous ignorance !

Honest ignorance can sometimes be excused IMO but wilful ignorance is unbeatable ! You Win :)

Here's the weekly weather forecast shown by Google for my area (from weather.com):

Image

Looks a bit monotonous, but I'm actually looking forward to this! The temperature has been hovering somewhere between 85 and 90 degrees during the day here lately - but with the high humidity and the hot sun beating down on the roof of my cabin, it's felt much hotter than that. At least with the clouds and rain I should have this coming week, it might keep my roof cool enough that my air conditioner can finally keep up - well, once it catches up.

It's already afternoon, though, and it's still quite sunny and hot out. Come on, clouds and rain!

Well, the first 3 of those forecast 8 days of clouds and rain have been almost full on sun! There was a rain storm that lasted a few hours yesterday maybe, and enough thankfully to cool my roof some. It's not looking good for today, though. They've changed the forecast to partly cloudy.

They've also turned next Friday into a sunny day, too. If I'm lucky, then, I'll only be getting 4 rainy days out of the original 8.

I've had pretty much full on sun for the past 6 days despite the prior forecast. Today, though, I'm finally getting the clouds and rain and it's so much cooler inside!

This time of year on the sunny days my little window air conditioner just can't keep up. I live in a board a batten cabin with a tin roof with no attic space as buffer. So, it's the radiant heat from the very hot roof that's the problem. The air inside may not be particularly hot but it feels like I'm being cooked by the infrared rays of a heat lamp.

I'm thinking about putting some sort of water sprinkler system on my roof so that I can cool it down a few times a day. It would probably make a major difference in how hard my air conditioner has to work.

I'm with you Chris. I really want to give a rat's ass but I'm totally out. It's a complex issue and I don't think humanity has the will to properly address it.

Unlike Pepe I can tell I'm being cooked!

...arrgghh...

Look what we have here. Will I actually be getting some relief this week or will I be let down again?! The last week long forecast showed 8 days of clouds and rain, and I only got 1 day of clouds and rain and 7 days of pretty much full on sun! They may have today right, at least, but it sure is hot!
