maybe I can help you out of your thoughts.
with you current design you cannot be succseesful.
I have drawn you an example how you can do it, in my opinion.
All weights are on one side when the internal mechanism is starting.
All weights use gravity force, so that the mechanism fall over.
when begin to turn, the down weight, rolling cylinder is pulled upwards.
when crossing the vertical line, we have the force to swing back.
In the drawing you see that I have made the upper distance half the length as the lower distance of the square. 2:1
The left weight 2 kg, the rolling cylinder 1 kg.
It is a swing forward and swing back function, delivering energy.

Great video - shows the age old problem of LATENCY.
This is the tendency for sliding weights to remain in position due to static friction and inertia long after their desired movement.
What is required then is a mechanism to slide the weights BEFORE the wheel turns, not AFTER.
Since the weights are sliding way too late to accelerate the wheel, they instead act like BRAKES.
This is what Bessler called putting the horse in front of the cart and explains why thousands of designs like this that depend on sliding weights don't work.
Cool mechanism tho!

Hi cloud camper, yes that is what is desired, well...hopefully one way or the other we will get there.
Did some tests with crossbars between upper and lower linkages seen in the previous video, got an effect that i've been chasing for more then a weak now, but its not fully working.

It is as ME said, measure the weights which are moving.
From the video I have the opinion that the center of mass is below the turning axle,
So in my opinion the construction will not work in this way,
you need something additional.
Like a preload, a spring, an additional weight, so that your mechanism can interact with this.
The movements like you do it now are moving to late.

There are two zero torque positions.
One clockwise torque position.
One counter-clockwise torque position.
After each 45 degrees turn.

hey guys, i've done the video with the previous model but now the weights are not connected on the diagonal, they are connected straight, the above one with the below one.
Thx for the feedback.
I'm looking in what data can the software display from the simulation. Still note very clear, it can do a number of things but not sure if i can make it show the COM.

I read a bit of bessler's saga here on the forum, he sacrificed his youth to be able to find this. Looking back at all his "friends", they all became wealthy, had families, things were going good for them while he had to sacrifice even food in order to buy parts in order to do more experiments....the drive, the obsession, the torment...almost ruined his life. Maybe it did...and all for nothing...

can't rest, got a new idea, a new way to explore this mystery... but i'm so burned out that can't pull myself into making another model right now.
I'll wait a bit more then go ahead and try it out.

It doesn't want to do anything that requires any extra energy from it.
Everything in nature wants to assume the position of least possible energy as this is always the most stable position.
If you give some weights a nice smooth path to follow, they will happily convert height to motion until the height runs out, then stop.
If you want nature to do anything out of the ordinary you will have to shock it out of it's complacency.
If you can shock it sufficiently, nature can then get confused and do something out of the ordinary.
