Is K. Waenga a bait-and-switch Bessler wanna-be?

Post by suncitydave »

Kerry Waenga, an inventor from New Zealand, claims to have discovered the secret of Bessler’s wheels and is willing to sell it. I wired him money in June of 2018 and so far he has refused to provide anything of value: no photos, no videos and no specific plans. An expensive lesson of “Let the buyer beware! Such behavior diverts valuable resources and hurts the community of serious Bessler researchers. Please read thru my website “Kerry Waenga: Genius or Scam Artist? at http://suncitydave.org/kerry/

I can confirm the details of Dave’s experience with Kerry as he has kept me updated from start to finish. Right up to the last minute, Dave was open-minded about whether Kerry was to be trusted, but in the end he realised that others may be tempted to send money and it would better to post details of his dealings with Kerry. We know that at least a couple of others from this forum have been in communication with Kerry. If you have had similar experiences with Kerry it would be helpful to post them here.

Sorry this happened to you Dave.

I did a bit of searching of the name 'Waenga' and came up with 6 pages of posts in various threads. Kerry was first introduced to the forum by his 'friend' over a year ago and then Kerry started posting to the forum himself. It became a bit of a bomb-fest which he was called out on.

Anyways, Kerry contacted me by Private Message around a year ago basically wanting advice and perhaps a sounding board. I sometimes get that. I gave him my email and he started casually mailing me to which I usually replied. I encouraged him to rebuild the original wheel as POP, that he claimed was a runner, without changes or upgrades that he was thinking about. It was basically a harmless exchange as I tried to get a bead on him as a man and his intentions. To go public and share openly, or was he fishing, possibly for financial assistance, or a mark ? Then unsolicited by me he offered a financial proposition for a part ownership arrangement etc. IIRC I didn't reply to the proposition and simply ignored the email. It may well have been about the time you were signing a contract with him. The contact was going on right up to xmas.

Thanks for sharing your story Dave. Forewarned is forearmed.

Sorry that happened to you.

Now let me state up front that I'm not a lawyer and this is not legal advice to you.

I'd be contacting Federal authorities (in both countries) by this time, as it appears that wire fraud has occurred. Of course, he (Waenga) could avoid appearance of criminal intent (of committing fraud) by supplying the information he was under contract to do. Or by return of the funds supplied to void the contract (but do not do that until the money is actually in your hands. ;-)
After consulting the Feds, offer to resolve (as above) through your civilian attorney(s) (basically "This is your last chance"), and if that falls though, begin criminal proceedings. (The larger the amount in question, the more seriously they will pursue it.)
Once that begins, the publicity of it should (hopefully) alert or scare off any further potential victims...

Good Luck..!

I'm surprised JC didn't advise you against it. He's known the secret for a very long time. I've had it since 2008 and at least once a month someone new here figures it out.

Please for fun tell us how the conversation went when you told your CFO you were going to wire a bunch of money to some random stranger overseas because he swore he knew the secret to PM.

Here is how it goes for future reference

1, Hi i'm new here but you should all be glad i'm here because i know the secret.
2. I'm a really good person and i want to world to have it for free.

Chorus: Ok we are here to help, what can we do. You are safe if you openly publish ETC ETC

3. I need time and money to build it, i am a genius i just can't rub two nickels together or get anyone that knows me to help. But you guys seem like a bunch of gullible fellas i can lead on.

4. Stop questioning me, you guys don't know how tough this is.

5. You are all thieves

6. You are all dumb thieves

7. BANNED

AND around it goes. You have your PM

Its good to try and warn others, but if people did their due diligence, scam artists wouldn't be in that position in the first place. Most of the time this type of scam is based around them making you think that you are the one with the upper hand and you are "stealing" something for nothing. They have no remorse because they reconcile the whole " you were trying to scam ME" attitude.

So to answer
NO he is not a genius.
I would pretend that contract is a lottery ticket and put it in a drawer and forget about the whole thing. Grab a single malt and explain to the CFO your a dreamer but an ID 10 T sometimes.

If you are thinking about the money or thinking about the recognition then you probably need to focus more on the wheel/building. When you have a working POP you won't be asking anyone online what to do with it I hope. There are at least 10% of the threads here that devolve into "what would you do" so i'll refrain.

I like single barrel high proof american bourbon. Bring a bottle and you can watch the wheel spin.

Crazy Dave, I did tell Dave that I didn’t think Kerry’s design bore any relationship to Bessler’s but of course none of us know if it might be possible to design two different ways of obtaining continuous rotation.

I promise you I have never claimed to have a working wheel. I have strenuously maintained that although from time to time I have thought that I might have got the solution I have never succeeded in building one that actually works, and I have always said so.

I don’t recall anyone except Kerry Waenga stating that he had a working wheel, although many, including myself, have said from time that they thought they knew how the wheel worked, only to discover that they didn’t. I think that if anyone had really succeeded we would all know, otherwise what is the point of spending a lifetime researching and trying to find the secret? To what purpose?

silent,
First of all, since I've been here I can distinctly remember at least 5 members who claimed a working, running, and completely built wheel. None of them ever showed ANY proof.
Secondly, you will find that most members here are seriously striving to solve this riddle, and those are the folks with whom you need to talk. Forget the charlatans. Focus on what you know. I believe this puzzle is worth solving and this is a great place to share and gain knowledge.
Trying to turn the spinning in my brain into something useful before moving on to the next life.

Very well said sleepy ! Tho I think there have been a few more than 5 over the years. I'd say there is a ratio of about 1:10 who claim a working wheel to those who claim to know how one works.

To silent .. on a quest like this, and a forum like this, you need to factor in the psychology of human nature and its needs and foibles; and the catalyst of anonymity the net affords. And besides CD was being slightly sarcastic.

Which brings me back to Dave's original posting of this topic. He is the exception, the one willing to write it all down and post about his experiences so that others like you and me can make better choices if faced with similar circumstances or 'opportunities'. Kudos to him.

As usual, 'persuasion' is just an "entrepreneur's" thing to do.
In what ever form, it's not limited to this forum.

There will always be some "Prince" who operates somewhere outside the consumer protection laws with the best <insert: "working wheel design"> plans in need of a new owner in exchange for a "small fee"...
Prince or not, there's one thing this perpetual-motion-hobby teaches: Be prepared to trip over your own (raised) expectation.

Anyway, thanks SunCityDave for sharing your 'moment'.
Hope the set-back is still manageable.
