So if you try to solve the riddle with Euler and Lagrange your attempt will fail.
Agreed the Bessler Wheel riddle being solved using only Euler & Lagrange will fail.

However it all depends on the riddle a person is trying to solve.

We are using technology that was not available at the time to solve a riddle.

The riddle; How Bessler thought out the problem and his construction methods are another matter.

The general principle to the M. Turbine III design is as follows.

1. Lets start with two equivalence.

a. A trolley being accelerated along a straight long track at 9.81 m/s*s vs gravity.

energy is entering the system as work is being done to move the trolley.

b. Torque on a dumbell-bar on the pivot point at it's center of mass vs a pendulum.

The Torque generated changes on how far the pivot is from the center of mass and
the mass used for both.

The difference is the bar can change the pivot point position.
Any energy lost by doing this can be recovered by a spring device.

silent

Yes simple - but difficult - after all it has been 300 year +

I recommend members go to the Albums tab above and select agor95.

Then look at the images.

Thank you DrWhat for your appreciation of the supporting site https://steampunks.ddns.net/.

I hope it inspires others to open up on this concept as you have done.

This is the original thread created before working on the above site.

It should have similarities to other members efforts.

Also the same barriers exist to us all.

Just wanted to put this link in as the idea is the next stage in getting the asymmetry
into the M. Turbine device.

Hi Agor95,

here I like to show you that the cylinders are not rolling, so that we have asymmetric torque.

The down cylinder is blocked automatically with the total weight above.

You can make 4 or 8 cylinders and they will free fall forward to the left or the right.

You also see that the internal diameter is less then the diameter of the Hamster cage.
The distance between the two cylinders is smaler then the diameter of the wheel.
So free fall forward.

When you use springs, instead the rigrid connection, then you have on the downgoing side more energy.
So you have created then an energy difference, not only a torque difference,
between left and right in the wheel.
The energy is shifted to the downgoing side.

There are a lot of device presentations that show asymmetric momentum like behavior.

The more the better.

I am investing time on the methods of proving devices via simulations.

As we all know people do not always believe what they see. They need more proof.

Also a web sim' can be shared to more people.

All the Best

I just noticed that in the last image you posted, the spacings between the arms are not equal. That's really gonna throw off the sim results.
The math's model has 45 degrees between each dumb bell.

I would like to thing you checked out my web site to see the moving version.
