Not to change the subject, but things are starting to come together, finally!

I don't think anyone is interested in sliders, but if they are, I'm starting to figure things out. It's been difficult to say the least. Springs do the heavy lifting, I. E., reset the sliders, then they, the springs, have to shift, for the next half revolution. But before that happens the slider has to latch. Then the primary weight(s), can shift the springs, without pulling the slider backwards. If that makes any sense. And, of coarse the shifter has to latch too, while all of this is happening.

Converting it to Iron hasn't been so easy either.

I love the pissing contest; keep it going! Have a good holiday and all that rot, sorry Fletcher can't seam to keep my mouth shut,

OVARON has made an important observation pertaing to the so called term, cross-bar. I.E., the wheel would run very slow with only one cross-bar. This can't possibly be right; it wouldn't run at all.

It should be CROSS; it, the wheel would run very slow with only one CROSS. And run much faster by adding more cross's. And, most likely, a cross would have four weights, one at the end of each arm. OVARON must be right-------

Anyway, it makes sense to me. My contention of coarse, is, the cross was made up of two sliders. FWEIW, If I'm right, the last wheel had two cross's, with eight weights.

Hey Sam,
Maybe take a break for a few days and come back fresh. We are trying to accomplish the "impossible" and it gets very frustrating. After nearly 30 years and close to 300 builds,I must admit that there have been MANY times that I've said "F... It!" and smashed my current build to bits.I don't know about your situation, but for me,building a working wheel is my last chance to really leave my mark in the world. God knows I'm not an academic,so putting this hunk of junk together and getting it to work is my last ditch effort at being something(other than a failed musician). On the plus side,my family loves me and I've got my health!
Trying to turn the spinning in my brain into something useful before moving on to the next life.

I'm currently in Spain but upon my return I would like to try to enliven debate with a few suggestions in the hope that it will stimulate ideas leading to more useful posts. There are a couple of people who are doing their best with ideas and I think we need more like them.

When you look back to the earlier forums there were far more posts and it was alive with ideas, I'd like to try to get us back to those times. I'm not saying I can do it, but I think it's worth a try.

Welcome to the club! That was just the cost of learning.
Now you can finally begin.

Good luck!

I don't think it's possible to get there from here. People
and times change. On the bright side we're closer to
the answer than we've ever been.

I'm having a snow day. Now I wish I were down under.

Chin up Sam.

I think it’s better than it was a year or so ago. More posts and more discussion. I am still certain that this year will see the solution, hope I’m right!

I have noticed members are more positive than 10 years ago.

We naturally need to assist members with care.

Each idea has positive aspects and I prefer to dwell on them.

However water, electric, air or string based concepts are outside my scope.

Not the best concepts to model.

Tut...I really do dislike the role of grumpy ole bugger but......

Members are more positive than 10 years ago....why?

We knew the nothing handed down over countless generations and we've learnt precisely nothing to date...and until we accept that obvious & its implications then precisely nothing will ever change.

This is simply beyond our understanding.. clearly so ... so we at least understand where we need to look for it si?

Nah...like bloody mushrooms...reared on bullshit & forever in the dark.
We need to take the damn things not be them!

Hey Gill,

If there is an answer, today would be closer to our 'knowing'
it than yesterday.
