Well you've got to admit it looks impressive.

I've always felt that neodymium magnets were like batteries.

I understand that it takes less energy to grind them up and
re-magnetise than the energy they supply in a magnetic motor.

Yes its very tempting to think that and I suspect thats the basis that some claim that permanent magnetic motors will "use up " the magnetic field eventually .

I think though the instances that magnets lose their magnetic field in these attempts is probably more to do with constant hysteresis which in effect is magnetic friction on the carrier atomic configuration which eventually just degrades it .
Its an effect of the magnetic field being "worked" similar to say an aeroplane wing which will eventually end up with metal fatigue in the metal through constant vibration due to the "work " of resisting the air pressure force .

As far as I know there is very little inherent potential energy in magnets so however a permanent magnet is used in producing magnetic motors they are facing the same challenge we have , - "a conservative force " .

Magnets losing their magnetic field is not the main problem IMO ( I'm pretty sure that could be overcome if it is a problem ) .

Their main problem , like ours , is - can it be done ? Can more energy be coaxed from somewhere to give over unity .

And like here , they're trying hard :) and there seems to be a fair number of them that think they are progressing .

Far from being a problem I think hysteresis could be the solution.

Going one way, clockwise say, around the hysteresis loop gives rise to a
loss of energy.
Going in the opposite direction, counterclockwise, will give a gain in energy.

We know how to do this with the Carnot cycle at the temperature/pressure
hierarchy but we do not understand how to do this at the electric/magnetic
hierarchy.

Ironically we can go round one way (magnetic refrigeration) which is
completely analogous to the Carnot refrigeration cycle but we haven't yet
understood how to travel around this loop in the opposite direction.

I think the solution must lie in rate of change since with the Carnot one can
go from isothermal to adiabatic by simply changing from slow to fast and vice versa.

The key word is 'now' for the rate of change started to increase in 1880 to the present day.

After 1945 the world was going through some hard times. In the 1960s the rebuild efforts was re-aligned and he penned these words in that time of Space Walks, T2 camper vans on the road. various herbal smokes and the rebelling against wars in far away places.

As for 'now' the exponential growth in population and pollution was not the road the song was about.

However some new song writers may start singing about a new road.

Even a possible Bessler Wheel new age clean energy supply.
