The history of the Rosicrucians

For those who would like to experience or study how this could possibly relate to Bessler, and how it would affect the study of Bessler, to know.

Quote from the modern Rosicrucians of Norway:

The order has existed in many different forms and under different conditions over time, and it will still be dynamic in that way. It is a tradition of knowledge that has been preserved throughout history. The Order of the Rose Cross was first known to the public at the beginning of the 17th century through the publication of the anonymous writings of Fama Fraternitatis (1614) and Confessio Fraternitatis (1615) in Germany.

The esoteric wisdom found in the Rose Cross philosophy is traditionally traced back to the mystery schools of ancient Egypt and Babylonia. The word "esoteric" comes from the Greek esotericos, which means a knowledge reserved for a circle of selected people, that is, the initiates. "Mysteries" come from the Greek mystery, which means to keep secret. From the great cultures of Egypt and Babylonia we can follow the spread of knowledge to ancient Greece, the Middle East, the Roman Empire and into medieval Europe.

The esoteric wisdom was expressed through various kinds of faith and thought. In the Renaissance, the Order of the Rosary (or the Rosicrucians as they were then called) created a synthesis of the different directions.
A comprehensive system of elements of Gnostic Christianity, ancient philosophy and mystery cults, Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) and alchemy was developed. Teaching was arranged in degrees that the students underwent. Each degree also included specific exercises for developing psychic abilities.
The Order of the Rose was publicly known when Fama Fraternitatis was published in 1614 in Germany. The following year came Confessio Fraternitatis, an elaboration of the contents of the first manifesto. For the regular reader, these scriptures provide information about the foundation of the Rose, its ideals and philosophy.

But the manifestos also have an esoteric (hidden) content, available only to those with insight into alchemical and Kabbalistic coded language: Fama Fraternitatis describes the various stages of the process towards spiritual enlightenment. The manifestos came in many editions in several different languages and created great debate among intellectuals across Europe. In Fama Fraternitatis, all readers are encouraged to "make known their thoughts" and the Rose Cross Order would then contact.
In several countries pamphlets and books were published for and against the Rose Cross Order. The most famous of these is Johann Valentin Andreae's Christian Rosenkreuz's Chemistry Wedding of 1616, which in an alchemical symbolic language describes the path to spiritual enlightenment. This has led historians to believe that the Order of the Rose Cross was founded by a person by the name of C.R.C. Christian Rosenkreuz, but this name does not appear in the two Rosary Cross manifestations. Only the initials C.R.C. and R.C. used when the "main character" is mentioned. If you replace these initials with "Christian Rosenkreuz", the esoteric content is lost. The Rosicrucian Order remained hidden from the public, and many tried in vain to contact the secret order company. Outwardly, the Rosicrucian philosophy was made known through books by the Englishman Robert Fludd and the German Michael Maier.

Throughout the 1600s, there were Rose Cross lodges in activity in both England and many cities on the continent, including in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy. In the same period, the witch hunts spread with great force, and in 1618 the 30-year war started, which left much of Europe in ruins. The Rosicrucian Order still had to work in secret.

Of famous people who were in close contact with the Rose Cross Order in the 1600s, we can mention:
Francis Bacon
René Descartes
Jacob Bohemia
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz
Isaac Newton
Enlightenment and the 19th century
Around 1690, the Rose Cross colonists brought the Rose Cross Order to the new world. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson had close contact with the Rosicrucian philosophers and the American Declaration of Independence of 1776 is founded on a number of the principles of the Order. In Germany, the book "The Secret Figure of the Rosenkreuzer from the 16th and 17th Century" was printed in 1785-88 and from the mid-1700s a mystery association called itself "The Order of the Gold- and Rosenkreuzer", was very active.

In a number of European countries, close links arose between the Order of the Rose Cross and the Freemasonry of the 18th century. The high-level system of a number of Freemasons clearly reflects the Rosicrucian philosophy. In "The Scottish Ritual," among others, the bearers of the 18th grade are called "Knight Rose Croix" (French: Chevalier Rose-Croix, German: Ritter vom Rosenkreuz).

Many high-ranking Freemasons in the 18th and 19th centuries were at the same time highly consecrated Rosicrucians. Among them are the tomb of Saint-Germain, Alessandro Cagliostro, the Swedish scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg and the French Martines de Pasqually, Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin and the well-known mystic Papus (Gérard Encausse). The German universal genius Johann Wolfgang Goethe was also Freemason and at the same time had knowledge of the Rosicrucians which he immortalized in his poem "Geheimnisse".

In the early 1900s, Harvey Spencer Lewis (1883 - 1939) was granted permission by the old order company in Europe to start a branch of the Order of the Rosary in America. Previously, a Applicant had to receive the teaching orally at the Order's meeting places. H. S. Lewis processed the material and in the 20th century created an educationally structured letter course that could be sent home to each member. This system was revolutionary for its time and was initially condemned by other organizations, but today many are communicating their teaching in the same way as AMORC.
After the two world wars of the 20th century, the order companies in Europe were greatly reduced.

AMORC in the United States helped to build the Order of the Rose Cross in Europe after World War II and also expanded rapidly to other parts of the world. Through this expanded network, AMORC became an international, worldwide organization.

Today, the Rose Cross Order AMORC works as a cultural fraternity organization that provides teaching without financial or political signs. The organization consists of women and men from more than a hundred countries around the world. Within the Rose Cross tradition, women and men have always been equal. Nevertheless, the traditional term "brotherhood" has been retained, a term that illustrates that we meet as like-minded personalities on the way to a common goal. Our members represent all races, faiths, cultures and most professions. AMORC's worldwide operations are organized into thirteen large lodges.
