Seriously? Did the WHO have access to the doctor Li Wenliang who alerted the world? When did WHO even get access into China wasn’t it the start of Feb.

I hope you will be ok in the future.

We have seen in the past schools have been the path for flu to get into the home.

ME:
All you meda is opinionated!!
Truth and every country is at fault. I haven’t been to one country where the news is unbiased. Remember when the news used to be about the news as fact and very little leaning bias or opinion. The trouble is the global snowflake of western society where everything is cast in entitlement and feelings and are unable to deal with opposing opinions or harshness of the real world. Coddling our youth over generations has brought us here.

I ask how can you lead when when he spreads doubts,.
As an example, (one of too many) with dr. Fauci in the background he dares to promotes anti-malaria to gamble your life with while it's on the one hand totally unclear what it will do to you and while on the other hand he has a business stake in it. He shouldn't sell that product to the public, as a good leader he should have STFU and in zero ways overrule dr.Fauci as the spokesman in that area.
First I believe it is fake news he owns any stock in the drug in any substantial way. Second why should he STFU? Third why not leave it to the people who are dying what experimental drug they take. All those countries with assisted dying laws and they can’t decide on how they die? Remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine or whatever, the more they use them the faster we will know they work.

IMO:
I think these two sums the case up quite well.

FACT:
The drug that Trump is "selling".. to calm the people down....(and earn money and votes).IS BEING TESTED BY the WHO as we speak! Norway and Spain and soon more are testing this exact drug under WHO organisation, and also some other drugs and HIV inti-viral drugs compared to sugar-pills. The results will be available by May/June.. and forward as soon as each drug are ruled out or confirmed, compared to complications etc.

CASE:
So when he speaks of one of the untested drugs, and cuts funding at the same time..he is proving to be a moron. Everybody knows he does this so it should look like (to his supporters anyway) that WHO is to blame...not him. At least it proves that this hasn't been handled perfect after all, or else he shouldn't have anybody to blame.. blame for what? Well ehh..

CONCLUSION:
So actually/in practice: Trump did stop the funding of the ongoing study of what medicine will work! Indirect: He doesn't want his people to have the best medicine..or he is afraid his favorite will fail.. what ever reason..it's the choice of a moron. This would delay the process for the American people!

So do you like to delay Corona medication for all?

So glad Gates stepped up, and pointed nose to the big guy..

“WHO's primary role is to direct international health within the United Nations' system and to lead partners in global health responses. It doesn’t fund any research to my knowledge.

Yes they set in place and administrate such!

But: Who could know about a pandemic of this proportions 5 years ahead?
And who would know how to prepare?

No, Trump did fire the team, and did not use the protocol.. sadly.

This is what Trump don't want to fund:

Quote from article March 27. (Start date)

The World Health Organization (WHO) is launching a major clinical trial for potential treatments for Covid-19. Four drugs or drug combinations already used for other diseases will be tested, WHO leader Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Wednesday.

Norway is among the participating countries, and in practice anyone admitted to a hospital with a proven coronary infection can be included in the study.

It is the drugs remdesivir, which is used against the Ebola virus, and the malaria medicine hydroxychloroquine, derived from chloroquine, which is now to be tested against the coronavirus in Norway.

Most folk have understood that "preparing for the worst and hoping for the best" is very appropriate with the present situation.
Can someone not explain to Trump that this doesn't mean do your upmost to make it as bad as possible while hoping for the best?

Snake oil salesmen sell hope.
Would you go to a snake oil car salesman selling jingle jangle hope if you had a life threatening health problem? Would you recommend that course of action for others?

You can try shifting the blame, but every country is in the same boat...
Without the WHO, you wouldn't even have lousy numbers to complain about and would be totally depended on what came out of China... probably only the virus and (conjectured) with Li Wenliang marked as terrorist.
Truly, it could have been worse... yet this is what it is.

There are numbers, perhaps lousy for your taste.
No matter how you qualify it, White House resident Trump has (or should have) a more direct line with the WHO than any other World citizen.
It's on him to act sooner or later. According to his own words of insight, not the media(!), it would go away like a miracle.

Just to insert an overstepped contradiction:
While you suspect that the Chinese constructed some sort of biowapen, you still want them to be open about it...?

Sorry to interrupt your vacation story, but Trump does it on purpose and puts himself in the middle of it. No twisting or blame-shifting needed.
Normally it's hilarious from a distance, now it becomes dangerous.
daxwc wrote:Second why should he STFU?
Well that's very easy to answer:
daxwc wrote:Example: I do not go to a car salesman without expecting the jingle jangle, but predicate putting up with that on getting a good deal on a car.
(oh, seems Ovyyus found that one too)

He's supposed to be the head of government*, not the all-seeing eye!
Stakeholder or not, even if he had insights it's simply not his job to give any medical pointers.
We can talk about the dangers of malpractice when this pointer is not enough.
  • *) Government
    From Latin gubernare
"to direct, rule, guide, govern," originally "to steer, to pilot"
In the middle of a pandemic he cripples the one that does see.
Granted, in hindsight perhaps the WHO did not have 20/20.
Still, see reference 1 - previous post

Ironically:

Links to a news media video full of unproven conjecture...

Perhaps there are valid points that will certainly be investigated. But I don't know and I can't tell - I'm not going to believe any random video that crosses my path.

What do you gain by blaming the WHO?
Please consider that crying "pandemic" too early is neither beneficial for their existence. Working against the Chinese regime is neither beneficial for future relationships.

The WHO is not the blame that Covid-19 exists! Neither is the WHO responsible for the actions of other countries.
Especially when those actions fail or happen too late.
