Off/Topic PSYCHOLOGICAL INERTIA QUESTION.

Post by TommyK »

Has anyone here ever experienced a psychological inertia, meaning either in dream or relax state?
For example. Have you ever dreamed of hitting the brakes on a vehicle that you were in control of or stalling the vehicle and you are charged forward?
And when that event occurs you are awoken to a shock or adrenalin rush?

OK! Have a laugh if it will please you. But I ask this as a serious question.

I ask this question, seeking honest answers, for a private study that I am conducting.

TommyK, are you referring to dreaming of falling then awaking as you just bounced in bed? Or are you thinking more along the lines of weighing less when you sleep? I once read of a child that would sleepwalk many nights. Her father placed a scale where she had to step on it to record her weight. When sleepwalking she weighed less, sometimes near zero. When awake she weighed normal walking on the scale.

Awaking to a shock or adrenalin rush is thought to be caused by your spirit re-entering your body too suddenly.

If I have understood the question, I'd say yes. Whenever I have a dream where I'm able to fly, I can quite clearly remember (when I wake up) the sensation of centrifugal force as I round a bend quickly. I'm not sure if I feel it when changing speed, it is hard to remember because I have those dreams rarely. But I'm certain of having felt centrifugal force while dreaming.
Also, though I'm not sure it's of any relevance, sometimes when I'm just about to fall asleep, I get the sudden feeling that my bed is tilted and that I'm going to fall off, causing me to jerk back awake, sometimes smacking some limb against the wall in the process. :) The suddenness of it is very strange, I never feel the bed in the process of tilting, it is just suddenly tilted. It is more as if I feel like the center of earth's gravity has moved to one side 60 to 80 degrees or so. And that's another weird thing, it always feels as if it has tilted left or right, I have no memory of it ever tilting toward my head or feet.

Accidents ever hapens to me while sleeping, and they are a good mean for to wake-up. I suffered two great, nice and clear car crashes, with fully adrenaline, and I have also some thinking about. I'm curious abou your phylosophical questions. Will you share? Regs. M. feb/11

Thanks for the input all.

I am doing a study on the effects of dream state/ relax state and the brains electric system. i.e. How the brain controls dreams, nerves, motion etc. and as Jim stated, a.ntigravity-weightlessness.
I have actually had a recurring dream of a device that was somewhat like a blow dryer and timing light used for ignition timing on autos, except the device emitted a plasma light and a slight bit of air and would levitate small objects like cans, bottles, containers.
It's a strange study I know but of much interest to some.

Thanks again.

Made a cassette tape back in the late 80's that had 440 Hz (A) fed into the left channel, and 450 Hz fed into the right of a set of headphones. As one listened to it at first, the 10 cycle beat difference was obvious. But also as one let go and relaxed, the difference disappeared as it brought on alpha state in the brain (10 Hz). Very relaxing, should have copyrighted it because I saw it for sale a few years later. Was just for personal use at the time.

Might help your research.

TommyK, I don't understand why you mentioned the blow dryer device you dreamed of, does it have some connection with inertia I can't see or were you just saying? If the latter, why?

Johnathan,

The device was timing light/Blow dryer shape. The device emitted a plama light but also a small stream of air. It was as if the plasma light disolved an area of gravity and the air stream cleared the matter to create the anti-gravity.

I often have a dream where I see an overbalanced wheel rotating perpetually, with the usual things happening around that dont make sense. Although I recognise that I've seen something substantial, when I wake up, I can never remember the arrangement or how the device worked - but I know I saw something unorthodox, that was working at the time.

I've read it somewhere that when we rest, our subconsious reflects on the ideas that we've been working on and processes information learned to memory. Could my dreams be solving the problem?

........................................................dam, I still can't remember.

I would say yes, you may be receiving a solution. I believe most inventions come to the inventor during a dream. They say it is wise to keep a notepad or voice recorder by your side so that you can help yourself remember your dreams.

Could you imagine if some of these mind and brain devices were real.

For those interested in dreams I would suggest that you put a carefully worded suggestion or "mantra" into your "suggestion box" right before you fall asleep. Your dream-self is more than happy to run through some variations on a theme of a particular life challenge, give you insight from its' perspective or take you on an adventure if you like. A notebook is handy for dream recall in the morning. Don't worry if some dream recall is weird or undecipherable. It may "click" later on in the day-your personality is trying to translate something usually of a much more fluid and symbolic nature. Just know that at some level of your overall "essence" you are getting something out of it. I have been doing this for years and the added dimension to life is very rewarding. During the day I catch myself "deja-viewing" right along so to speak. It is like the difference between a mono speaker and surround-sound audio as an analogy. Check it out! It is worth the effort.
