Highly Effective Lithium Extraction

Post by WaltzCee »

Abstract:
The explosive demand for lithium calls for new lithium resources. A lithium-rich
bauxitic clay was selected, and its material composition, phase transformation, lithium
leaching efficiency using sulfuric acid were investigated after calcination treatment. In this
study, XRF, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, XRD and SEM were employed to characterize bauxitic clay and
its calcining products and leaching residues. The results show that bauxitic clay mainly
consists of diaspore, illite, montmorillonite and anatase with a major chemical composition
of Al2O3 (48.01%), SiO2 (33.06%), K2O (3.88%), TiO2 (2.25%), Fe2O3 (1.07%), MgO (0.46%),
and lithium 3170 μg/g. The optimum calcination temperatures were 500 and 600 °C, with
72.34% and 73.61% lithium extracted, respectively, using 15% sulfuric
acid leaching for 1 h. The optimal leaching conditions for lithium extraction were a
leaching reaction time of 60 min and a 20% (wt/v) sulfuric acid concentration.
Lithium leaching in this study was considered to occur via ion exchange instead of mineral
dissolution. The findings of this study would be useful and interesting for lithium recovery
from bauxitic clay.
This process might be to lithium what fracking was to oil.

Who owns the patent on that process?

While on the topic of lithium, a friend recently told me about a new battery technology discovered by the inventor of the lithium battery.

Here is a link: https://thedriven.io/2020/04/06/li-ion- ... -industry/

That wás a good read, gravitationallychallenged. The market has a lot of drivers. Recently
Biden (not my president) announced he planned on spending taxpayer dollars to replace the
federal fleet of vehicles. Before and behind the scenes Nanny Pelosi's husband bought
about a million bucks worth of TSLA calls.
  • The federal government owns or leases 254,059 vehicles,
excluding the military and Postal Service.
Thems a lot of clams. Those are 2 factors driving the lithium market up.
  • 1) Converting to the 'green' economy &
    2) Rampant government spending.
I bought last Tue and sold Wed for 5%. My opinion is lithium is poised for a bull market.
If you buy and it goes down, you might hold it a little longer and it well might recover.

Lithium seems like a good trade/investment to me.

Again thanks for sharing the battery article.

Thank you WaltzCee for the stock investing tips on lithium and for the government waste and corruption report. Another friend of mine told me about some recent progress on the aluminum/air battery. I haven't researched it yet but he said aluminum has been replaced with another element and an improved battery is supposed to be on the verge of being developed. It would be great if a higher energy density battery could be developed that doesn't require the use of rare earth elements. Perhaps someone else in the forum knows more about it and can share some information with us.

Your welcome, GC. I've picked up 2 positions.

That new battery could use lithium.
Claims (20) wrote: 1. A method of forming a dried, water-solvated glass/amorphous solid, the method
comprising transforming a crystalline sodium-ion (Na+) or lithium-ion (Li+) electronic
insulator or its constituent precursors comprising at least one Na+ or Li+ bonded to oxygen
(O), hydroxide (OH), and/or to at least one halide into a water-solvated glass/amorphous
Na+ or Li+ ion-conducting solid by adding water in an amount less than or equal to
the water solvation limit of the glass/amorphous solid.
It's also possible more and more people want to get torqued out of their ever loving
minds so I picked up some calls on SNDL.

How high will copper prices get and what is the 10 year forecast. I don’t understand what is driving it up right now. Is it really electric vehicles?

Hello daxwc,

I haven't been watching copper, thanks for mentioning it. They say it's a leading indicator
of the economy picking up. Good news, huh. All the economy needs would be for
government regulators to stop regulating.

I'm sure all that is going to take is for bureaucrats to get their insider trading done. Then we
can have an economy. That will confirm my biases of inflation caused by:
  • 1) massive government spending &
    2) higher energy costs caused by stupid government policy
I suppose anticipation of those 2 factors are a more real driver of copper prices. Moving to
a 'green' economy has more to do with bureaucrats lining their pockets than it does with
electric cars.

Well I think the stimuluses might be driving copper up (which falls under your massive government spending), but what happens when they stop? My concern is that it might fall off a cliff and I will need an exit strategy.

There is lots of articles on copper, unfortunately usually when there are on lots of articles on anything it is a lead indicator to run.
