BW in no gravity
Hi
Today is still a very important day to me, because of that I will share here one test result I made some years ago.
There have been questions, how can Bessler wheel perform in outer space, where is no gravity. Please see my setup results in provided picture.
In the picture, "A" is a motorized axis, turning the lever in the clockwise direction (Yes I know there is no "fixed" axis point possible in space. But I try to achieve here artificial gravity) "B" - is Bessler's wheel of cause. "C" - counterweight, with the same mass as BW. One long red line is "tracer" or tale of one pendulum outer weight movement inside the wheel when a wheel is operating...
When motor rotation speed is too small, BW does not operate.... and also when motor speed is too fast, BW will stop.
See pöörleb ikkagi! Töö käib siiani avalikustamise suunas, kuid teist teedmööda kui te siin ette suudate kujutada. Kahju on et John C. on natukene valel teerajal oma number viiega.
All the best

Not sure how much faith I would put in Algodoo.
Try turning off air resistance as well. I suspect you are just pushing against air like an inefficient propeller.

Sorry, I am not a regular visitor here at the moment.
Answer to Trsier79 is - Air/wind, in all posted pieces of information = 0 (Wind turned off).
I have here some other questions also. If here is some "local hardcore user" who read almost all posts and/or remembers roughly all that happens in this forum. Can this person direct me to ... I-m looking for other users here who have shown something similar, that I have shown here time after time, about my setup. Exposing all inner structures is not important, but showing something unique and different is. Like some inner weights path...!
Can someone direct me to this kind of posts ... videos ... pictures ... anything?
Thank you in advance!

Hi PLMKRN .. I think I have a pretty good memory for this forum and I have read just about every post for years so I'll give it a whirl.
Since 2003 when this modern forum format came into existence (where you could attach pictures etc) there have occasionally been members who promoted a weight orbital path something similar to yours (tho each one is different). Sometimes they described it as a spiral shape or that it was inspired by Bessler's flowing and ornate signature etc.
Usually little or no details are provided so the discussion peters out. Because there is only so far it can develop without eventual detail (the devils in the detail).
Because they are quite rare and I haven't seen one like yours for a long time then none jump instantly to mind.
The best I can suggest is that you go to the main page where you will find a menu called > Albums. These are the pictures posted by all members. You can randomly search it or perhaps someone you may remember. It's very tedious but I think the only option unless someone else remembers someone or some specific drawings etc and can point you there.

There are many who tried finding special "paths", eg. https://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/view ... sc&start=0PLMKRN wrote:Sorry, I am not a regular visitor here at the moment.

re: BW in no gravity
I would like to comment on an idea that my brother had, which I also believe, that Bessler paired weighted pendulums on opposite sides of the wheel so that earth's gravity had no consequential affect on the weights. When one went down it's paired weight was pushed up. Therefore a wheel using this idea would work in outer space as well as on earth.
For you old timers who were here before my brother passed in 2016 his tag name, I believe was JimMich.

Hi Fred
Although I did not know a lot of what he was working on, I did know he focused his energy on centrifugal force. Jim did ruffle a few feathers from time to time, but he held my respect.
My belief is that gravity is conservative, so if you can make a wheel work in a conservative environment, you can make it work in any conservative environment using the same principle of operation.
How involved are you with the Bessler wheel?
Cheers
Kaine.

I have only been thinking what might work based on Jim's explanation of what Bessler wrote about it. I have not infringed on any of Jim's intellectual property in my thinking, leaving that to his children, who dislike me and could cause me problems possibly if I make a prototype that they believe infringes (that works). I have pondered why Jim's design did not work and came to the conclusion that it did not have enough rebound from the springs at the end of travel of the pendulums to bring them back inward for their next cycle. This is why most pm wheels slow to a stop whether it is using earth's gravity or centrifugal gravity toward the circumference of the wheel. Jim did not incorporate the Jacob's ladder aspect that Bessler mentioned. I think that could be the key to making it work. If half of the eight weights were to be pulled inward by the half moving outward using dual levers linked between them I can see that there is a possibility that would solve the puzzle. A teeter totter is balanced and a Jacob's ladder araingement of similar levers might help enough to keep it rotating. I don't know.
re: BW in no gravity
That is unfortunate. They should be happy if his work led to a working wheel.I have not infringed on any of Jim's intellectual property in my thinking, leaving that to his children, who dislike me and could cause me problems possibly if I make a prototype that they believe infringes (that works).
Besslers words can be interpreted in many ways, so I feel any literal translation could in fact be a metaphorical one, or vice versa. Only a working wheel will tell, and even then we may never know exactly what he meant.
Anyway, Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search.

They should be worried that his work didn't lead to a working wheel.Tarsier79 wrote:They should be happy if his work led to a working wheel.

Re: re: BW in no gravity
Jim was mistaken. A bessler wheel minus gravity equals not even a good paper weight.FredMich wrote:I would like to comment on an idea that my brother had, which I also believe, that Bessler paired weighted pendulums on opposite sides of the wheel so that earth's gravity had no consequential affect on the weights. : ) : ) !
My Feelings too .

Welcome Fred ! . I wouldn't worry too much about future demonstrations by people who think you stole the idea if you crack it .
Fact of the matter is , until a working wheel is built in practice , there were no working ideas .
And probably the first big surprise awaiting the lucky genius when they prove their ideas , - will be that everybody hates them !
I'm looking forward to the day ! : )

Have had the solution to Bessler's Wheel approximately monthly for over 30 years ! But next month is "The One" !

And everyone will try to claim prior art...
People are arseholes.
The good thing, you don't have to worry about that till you have a working physical model.
