Bessler said of his runner that he was concerned a buyer could want his money back after he had sold his wheel to them....
Well, I know I'm close to solving it, and if it turns out to be as simple as I believe it to be, I couldn't in good conscience sell it to anyone for a large amount of $$$....
I could, and I would sleep like a baby. Any sale would have to have a contract, since the internals are unseen and could be fraudulent. It protects the buyer who would want assurance he isn't wasting coin on a spring powered turnspit.

Also, a one way bearing doesn't make a pendulum magical. You still have to inject energy to lift the pendulum into OB.

What if Karl saw something like this of the wheel

So simple, isn't it?

It is so simple it doesn't work. One side is weighted heavier. He doesn't even let it spin more than 180 degrees.

haha if he lets it spin 360 degrees, it's no different than betrayed his wondrous achievement.

The point is Karl could have saw something simple to make, but the science behind it could be otherwise.

I always thought that even Bessler naked his wheel to everyone, it'll still take a while for science to figure it out. If it is that easy to figure out once you seen the inner work, then 7 billion x .2% = 14 million scientist and engineer around the world would have came accross it.

Thanks,

I feel like it’s gonna be like airplanes. It has been hundred years and we still struggle to understand lift. I’m not surprise gravity wheel will be engineered and manufactured and marketed with no clue how it works.lol

My visitors included supporters from the highest ranks, but with
them too came base parasites. Some pretended that my secrets
were already common knowledge, probably hoping that in this way I
would be tricked into delivering my artistry into their greedy hands.
But I would often answer them back as if I was a mumbling
shepherd
. They got no word of truth from me. I got to be very good
at hiding the truth. Sometimes I fooled them with mumbo-jumbo

such as made-up Latin words, and would then clam up tight again.
People would whisper that I had worn myself out with excessive
study. Never did I hear a word of praise, though I was criticised left,
right and centre. But I never changed, never once wavered,
because a single word could have betrayed my wondrous
achievement. So, my visitors, you who come to learn my secrets,
take note that I can hide behind words
. I'm well versed in the art of
rhetoric - so keep away
. But enough of all this - suffice it to say that
my work has remained intact

I say pendulums as well, not that one word could ever answer this quest and if it did i would have nothing to talk about ,very interesting how contrived Bessler had to become to avoid spilling the beans as the saying goes,if any thing it does show he had the real thing and was never going to let it go,which could as said lead us to thinking all he did was create misleading moments to stay in control,he did a good job ,some times i think building a time machine might be wiser?
only by making mistakes can you truly learn

I started working on perpetual motion in April 1962, I've given my whole life to it-------------------all you get is ridicule.

What say ye Fletcher? What's your word, or do you have a joke for us too--------------------Sam

Luft as in bellows or wind because when B introduces bellows in the MTs he only says that one word in the comment. In one of the illustrations, there was a debate on another thread about how one word was interpreted and some thought it said "wind". Bellows haven't been incorporated in any designs to the best of my knowledge so they represent an unexplored possibility. Combined with temperature changes, the pressure could be utilized as a renewable fuel. In a dynamic situation, no one has experimented with air movement of any kind other than your airfoil experiments, I suppose mainly because wm2d is what most people are familiar with, so you'd have to build a physical wheel with them and test it. So who knows what might happen?
I know that bellows by themselves don't create energy, but they have the potential to convert thermal energy and air pressure to kinetic energy. I just don't think weights by themselves are it, no matter what B said about them.

Thanks for the cross-section of reply's, they make interesting reading.

Let me start by saying I don't expect to change any minds here today. But I do think some may well stop for pause about what I write. I will give my WHY !

My take from this exercise is that we generally agree that B. did not want to be pressured into 'spilling the beans', as in 'loose lips sink ships'. He was aware of the threat to him and took measures, and was well practiced, in avoiding confrontation that might provoke him, or inadvertently or casually saying or writing something he would regret later. So imo it is unlikely that any single word could give the game away. But there always exists the possibility that it really was that simple, or at least part of his solution was !

Then we have his wordsmithing ability, his gamesmanship, to consider. His rhyming prose in AP, and what sometimes feels like his use of deliberate double entendres such as the passage in question perhaps suggests .. in that he used many words to say a wild horse couldn't drag it out of him, but if the line was translated (in our case) in isolation it read as just one word could be his undoing. I don't think that is an accident, just like I don't think he left much to chance, or coincidence. So for me the door remains open that he just might be playing more mind games and to keep my eyes and ears wide open. And this brings into frame for me the possibility of "Content Analysis" as a tool (not a new thought) to assist revealing any unwitting or unconscious bias or favouring on his part. Content analysis can count the number/frequency of times particular words appear in some text or texts. Sometimes it is indicative of a ranking of importance, even when disguised and hidden in plain sight.

So on to your responses. They range as I would expect. Was there one word, or was it two or more words, perhaps a phrase here and there ? We are left (as usual) with doubt as our companion. Dang, if only he would talk straight for once ! But of course that was never his intention, and he knew it, and so should we. We all know that the closer to the truth the better the lie. You don't have to remember what you said. And B. was human like the rest of us, who kept his mechanical secret away from the public for 30 something years. He wouldn't want to stray too far from solid ground should it later prove to be quick sand for him if later caught-out. So much of what he said probably had more than a whiff of truth. But which bits ?

Back to him being a human, with the usual human frailties I guess. Could he always control everything he said and did ? Did he always want to ? It would have been a large burden to him to be on guard 24/7 for 30 years. Perhaps like the psychologists suggest keeping a journal is indeed cathartic. We know he published GB, AP, and DT, and was quoted in the newspapers etc. He would be careful there. Where would he keep his secrets, and let his guard down ? We know where ! In his unpublished and unsold MT. But even then, after the arrest, he couldn't be too careful. There he could choose to either consciously or subconsciously live a little looser. He chose to use words and pictures in MT and told us to look for a combination of motion and movement within.

My ONE WORD is Storksbill ! He tells us plain in MT that there is something special behind the Storksbill. Gift horse in the mouth ?

So I did a little word counting. Storksbill appears 12 times in MT. 12 times ! 13 if you include when he one time calls it a Student Forcep !

For those that know of his Christian beliefs they will probably join the dots to the 12 apostles of the last supper, and 13, with Jesus, that has come up from time to time.

It's enough for the moment to ponder and let bed in. There are more dots yet to join imo !

But I leave you with the thought that perhaps you should be employing the use of SB's (or a variation of) in your designs for a runner, in some capacity ? Otherwise you just might be missing the boat if you aren't considering them seriously ? Some will say that a SB is a type of pendulum and rightly so - if the cap fits wear it ..

Although that is a compelling argument, just the word Stork-bill isn't much to go on.
The SB is not magical, it is just a lever that can either act linearly, rotationally or balanced. You can amplify distance or force, just like any other lever.
One of my fav. MT's, 24 can be taken as a partial SB mechanism, as can other MTs.
It is possible that there was a fascination with SBs at that time in relation to PM, or there could be any number of reasons he mentions them 12 or 13 times.

the answer is towards the end of his drawings (MT) and only towards the end. The rest is just tests and has no interest

If B did elude to a word or phrase, I can't imagine it being a thing. It would be something like " gravitational displacement, coriolis effect, centrifugal force, inertial interaction, impact, slingshot, deformity, point of reference, buoyancy, pressure differential, or similar.
