For those that get frustrated by the bots continually posting. Rather than open each topic in each forum one at a tedious time try doing what I do. I open a forum (say general discussion) and read the posts in topics I want to. Then I go to the top of the forum and click on "Mark Topics Read". Numpty posts changed to have being read even tho I haven't.

How do you know when someone real has posted a comment if it gets buried between the spam unless you open the topic?
Do other forums have this issue? I’m about done with new forum.

I look across to the right to see who the poster was before opening it. I only get fooled once.

It is odd the updated site attracts more spam bots. It does ruin an otherwise interesting forum.

Scott, could you implement a "No post for 7 days after signing up" policy? That would slow them down.

When I implemented 'Star Ship Bessler' BBS using the same version now used here. I created a newbie registered sub-forum where newbies can post.

This restricted the Internet Lice so the rest of the site was fit for purpose.

Naturally there is a need to admin the transition from newbie to full registration. However in some part that can be automated.

P.S.
We get more forum activity during December.
Like from the 'ounce a year group' and x-mass break 'let check out this group'.
It would be nice to make a good first impression.

The last member to post a comment may well be the bot, but this doesn't mean Fletcher (for example) didn't post an interesting post just before it.
I'm getting a bit fed up with this too.
Maybe no new members accepted would be a temporary option, until the problem is solved? Losing some current members because of this would be unfortunate, in my opinion.

Yes you could be right I feel drained by the loss of the site's operation.
To the point of being a lifeless automaton.
However I will keep on being creative until the great day the site is secure.

P.S. It is lucky to find your post in all this bot dump postings.

Sorry MrTim. When my hosting provider forced me to upgrade the version of PHP it broke the wiki too.
