I have a design, that when put to WM, turns one and one half times.
It’s interesting that acceleration increases past the start point then tapers off.
In the real world, it would just rock back and forth and never go past the start point.
Question: Does WM somehow add energy in circular models?
I haven’t built the design yet. I don’t trust it to waste time on.
I think Working Model adds unwelcome energy.

I observed the same behaviour frequently with Algodoo. I don't know if it could be the same problem or not with WM. The programme, when you pause the wheel to make adjustments, keeps the angular momentum that was happening at the moment of the pause, so when you restart it with the new setup it has a bit of a head start, which allows it to go over the top.
To eliminate this, i just add a bearing somewhere on the wheel, push play and then erase the bearing. Some modifications cancel out any existing forces and some don't.

Arch. The most frequent problem new users have with WM2D is overlapping objects. Select all, then "Do not collide". Then select componenets you do want to collide and select collide. Make sure colliding objects aren't overlapping, or they will shoot away from eachother, creating energy. Additionally, you may need to increase the accuracy of the sim to reduce rounding errors.

here's a similar discussion from 2008

If you select properties and select the object it shows any latent energies.

All of your suggestions cured the mystery. Thanks. Will be aware and on the lookout in the future.

Where are people on this forum getting this software? When I go to their site the price sheet shows they want $2995 for a single user. People here aren't paying that are they?
Re: I think Working Model adds unwelcome energy.
There are various discussions about it on the forum. Here's one that is cost effective for most.

I would like to try an alternative to WM2D. It doesn't like complications, and I am not about to pay for solidworks.
Any recommendations?
