There once was a herd of sheep. Some of the sheep clustered together in little groups but arguments and social etiquette dominated their interactions. Many individuals preferred to remain solitary and hidden among the trees and rocks only occasionally coming out to drink.
It was no use for a good shepherd to call the sheep because they have strong inclinations toward disconfirmation bias and the Dunning-Kruger Effect. So much so that they choose to ignore abundance and are left to wander about aimlessly, content to find occasional little morsels.
But anywhere there are sheep there are wolves and for some reason there is always a snake. Those psychopathic slithering spirits that infected Wagner and Borlach are still present.

And yet you don't understand why 90º to the axle matters. or what that has to do with pulleys and lines.
Do you know enough math and engineering to now how Romans lifted beasts from below the floor of the
coliseum?
That has to do with something Bessler knew because that uses pulleys and lines as well. Only Bessler
considered how to conserve linear momentum and then conserve angular momentum. I doubt he knew
it then but only how a swing conserves momentum. They actually use a pendulum to explain that.
And when they do they don't say conservation of angular momentum. There is a technical difference. If
a weight is spin, its spin is angular momentum. When a pendulum's weight passes bottom center and
swings from a lower fulcrum, it conservation of momentum because the path of the weight has changed.
Of course I'm certain that Bessler used 2 pulleys as guides to shift the swing of the pendulum. Since the
pulleys aren't lifting anything they're not performing any work.

According to that video my build is using a 2:1 mechanical advantage. If my weight wheels weigh 1.36 kg
then it takes 0.68kg of force to lift it. Walt, do you know how they lifted beasts onto the coliseum floor in
Roman times? I think they used 6 pulleys on their lifts.
If so then a 420 lb. lion only needed 70 lbs. of work to lift it. Can you lift 70 lbs.? Could you imagine if that beat
like a drum? Bessler used drums around his axle which didn't rotate. His wheel rotated.

Walt, I have watched documentaries that got into how the Romans built and operated coliseums, steam baths,
transported water, built roads, etc. One documentary I watched showed the pulleys being used with no mechanical
advantage. They just shifted the load. So if the video is correct, the people recreating the system the Romans used
didn't configure it correctly.

@All, on a side note, with what I'm building I might post the math. How does using 2 pulleys with a drum give
a mechanical advantage. If that video can be realized in my reconstruct of Bessler's Wheel, it can be tested.
Can what worked 2,000 years ago work today? I'm not sure. How would we find out?
This creates an odd situation. The parts of the line do not change between 2 pulleys as the video shows. The
weight on my build is only connected once and not twice. You guys will need to become very familiar with this
to understand why it matters. It could allow what I'm building to work much better.
I guess now the question is, would anyone care to discuss pulleys and load?
