Re: The Riddle
Besslers Wheels were made of wood His Drawing Flares out with maximum weight towards the perimiter of the wheel
Looks tippy to me

Re: The Riddle
A simple experiment
Put 3 nut of equal weight in a perfect triangle on a bicycle wheel or your test wheel Lower 1 to the bottom and see how long it stays there
I think that this was the movement that Bessler said he saw before he went and played doctor with sicko and got himself hitched

Re: The Riddle
So we have fixed three nuts on the rim of the wheel 120 degrees apart.getterdone wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:23 am Put 3 nut of equal weight in a perfect triangle on a bicycle wheel or your test wheel Lower 1 to the bottom and see how long it stays there
Then we rotate the wheel so one is at the bottom.
Hold it there so the wheel is not rotating then let go.
'See how long it stays there?'
Or
Have one nut at the top of the wheel, but a perfect triangle. Then move the top nut to the bottom. So it has two nuts on either side by 60 degrees.
'See how long it stay there?'
Or
Have one nut at the bottom of the wheel, but a perfect triangle. Then move that nut to the middle.
The two remaining nuts keel. The nut in the middle could be move towards the rim to try and arrive back to it's original position.
Have another go at explaining with a drawing/attachment.
Regards

Re: The Riddle
Option 1 is what Im talking about I'll make a few drawings when I get my scanner working

Re: The Riddle
Using your AP image as a guide. A back sector is rotated so it is at the bottom.getterdone wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 11:31 am Option 1 is what Im talking about I'll make a few drawings when I get my scanner working
The middle of it's rim arc is were the nut is located.
That middle rim arc is the location of the nuts for the other two sectors.
The bottom sector does want to move anywhere as it is at the lowest level.
The two other black sectors if moved 1 degree then they will want to keel.
However the bottom sector counter acts that keeling affect when it is move by the 1 degree above.

Re: The Riddle
Hi Agor Im not sure I understand the question (I'm still trying to get my scanner working lol)
Look at Besslers drawing and imagine a 10ft wheel and the 3 white sections are made of 1/4 inch plywood It would be top heavy
....and it would topple over
With Regards

Re: The Riddle
I see you are looking at your AP image and seeing two white sectors. It is true they are pressing down on the axle with twice the pressure than the one white sector at the bottom that is pulling on the axle.
These two top sectors want to rotate down to the bottom, but they cancel each other out. That is until the 1 degree rotation happens.
When that happens one has more torque than the other.
If you want a question then
'Have you confirmed this torque imbalance of these two competing sectors is the same as the counter torque created by the 1 degree movement of the bottom sector?

Just take a photo with a mobile phone and upload that image.
All the Best.
