That is one option. You could draw it up and declare the dimensions are masses?

The value of three is the improved torque stability.

Working through the math's help save you time and money.

However if you are building for pleasure then go for it.

No Ridicule intended. A good drawing allows someone to create an illustration.

nevberlintourist1, Yes, I saw that. I think it's a much too complicated for me to grasp. The red line must be a cam and, the red dot a cam follower; beyond that I'm lost-----------------------------Sam

The red dots are the weights Sam. The red line is just an imaginary line to show the path of the weights. This allows you to appreciate the difference between one side of the axis and the other.

Robinhood46, I'm all wrong! I could probably figured it out, if I spent hours and hours. I just don't have the time to devote to it. A long time ago you had a wheel inside of a wheel, a hex shape I think. What became of that---------------------------Sam

Sam, If you are talking about the real world build, the one that had tin cans with varying levels of sand for the weights, it failed miserably. The sand is probably in a wall somewhere stuck with cement, the tin cans may have been melted down to make an ashtray, or are in some landfill somewhere rusting. As for the wood, my guess is that it got cut up for other things getting progressively smaller and smaller until it was finally reunited with the tin cans at the landfill.
George Kunstler worked a lot on a hexagon in a wheel too, and we haven't heard from him recently, so maybe he succeeded and he has been killed off by the men in black? or more probably, his attempt failed miserably too.

My old wheels are a figment of my imagination. They get a sky burial.
