Tarsier 79 That surprises me. I would have expected that the one farther out would have a lot more torque--------------------Sam
PS To carry the idea one step farther, Bessler mentioned a grind stone. A grind stone would be like a heavy roller, right, but maybe I'm reading to much into it.

Follow up. Didn't Bessler say that the devil himself couldn't lift it, the wheel. The devil could lift a lot, couldn't he? Maybe Gill Simo is on to something here, with this idea of "Excess Weight"-----------------------------Sam

Sam Peppiatt wrote: Mon Sep 05, 2022 6:57 pm Yes, Yes, argo, that's it, a little bit like the hamster effect. My notion is; the wheels had constant torque. A heavy roller would do that. It would drive the wheel continuously. The question is; how to drive the roller, how to replace the hamster----------------------------------------Sam
So it all comes down to finding a way to get the roller to climb the hamster wheel.

I have put two idea so far. Not the best but better than nothing.

The Bessler's slip-gear is still a possibility.

agor, A better picture is the one you posted on July 3rd. See topic, by Bill Mothershead, WM2D Simulations, not to say the hamster isn't great. So how would you drive the roller---------------------------Sam

Just having a laugh. power to the hamsters ;)

The image with I and H for hamster of cause.

The teeth on the H component need to be on the outside.
Then designed to fit into the hamster cage.

Very fine design work is required to implement the concept.

P.S. This is nothing like Gills thread. It's more like the T. Turbine thread - really.

agor, Yes that's it--------------------------Bessler's wheel? Maybe--springs; I don't know. How about a pendulum? Yes, a pendulum to drive the roller and the roller would drive the wheel. How's that for a bull sh*t theory--------------------------Sam

I have been trying to get my head around the slip-gear geometry for some years.

Maybe there is someone more skilled than I can progress the implementation.

The concept is simple the inner wheel is the 'H' component and the 'I' is the outer hoop.

When the 'H' drops down the teeth slip to the right causing the outer hoop to rotates clockwise.

Hopefully to the point the next part of the slip-gear slides and on.

agor, it must be the other way around, the i is the inner wheel------------------------------Sam
PS Don't you see? i the inner wheel / gear would slip in one direction. When the inner gear turned the other way, teeth on H would engage the slots in the outer i ring and, lock up so to speak. Then both would turn together. In other words as i turns it would "slip" one way , but grab the other way. Like a one way clutch.

The wheel rotates counter-clockwise

It would be a good clutch or latch like device.

When you think about one rolling inside the other. You may see why I reversed their interaction.

SHADOW, The roller and or wheel, could turn either way, couldn't it? Which would make the wheel easily reversible, if that means anything----Sam

SAM,
tel que réalisé ca tourne mieux en sens antihoraire, il se peut qu'avec un arangement intermédiaire cela tourne dans les deux sens.
mais c'est une réalisation Algodoo donc pas fiable.

J.B

As realized it turns better in counterclockwise direction, it is possible that with an intermediate arangement it turns in both directions.
but it is an Algodoo achievement so not reliable.
