MT13

J.B

I’ve removed the lower friction that’s useless.
The ink-shaped lever is permanently oscillating.
In the upper part, the bent lever shocks the lifting wheel and blocks the whole, resulting in zero.
I ended up changing the principle and imobilising myself that was using lever in the shape of ink.
I tried to compensate the lift with a second lever chained.
I modified the lifting path of the bent lever, the result is better but does not allow to put the wheel in continuous rotation.
One more belly!!!

Gravity is conservative. For any of these designs to work you need to lift the weight with less effort, or get more from your drop.

Mathematically, potential energy doesn't care about horizontal displacement, but the same math also doesn't give us a way to lift the weight with less effort, or extract more energy from dropping it...

Multiplying arms is also not an answer to solving the problem. One pair of "balanced" or opposed arms should be enough to test a mechanism, especially in sim world. Each arm, or complimentary mechanisms has to find a way to gain energy with rotation... Unless you are trying to use the MT10 series adjacent connections to achieve a ganged approach.

For instance, your MT13 type design: Imagine it working with just two opposed L levers. The difference between the down going L lever and up L lever have to give the wheel enough momentum to overcome the lift at the top. This has to be done in 180 degrees. Now if you add another set of arms, you get twice the amount of OB, but now have to achieve the same energy in the wheel in 90 degrees.

In your picture with the red and blue weights the first weight repositioned outward can help the second weight reposition outward more and you aren't taking full advantage of this. I drew a drawing where the first weight assists the second weight in repositioning. I had to make it so certain lines only touched certain lines. So there is some overlapping parts but I think my design is an improvement on yours. If you want to see what I drew I'll share it but if you don't want to see it I'll save it for later because I am putting too many builds on my plate to build prototypes for right now. I'm just so bad at building I would never build all of the ones I've disclosed and some of them will work too. I will lose so much intellectual property value.

J.B

Tarsier did a good job of the problems encountered.
The multiplication of arms cannot compensate for the lack of momentum of a duo.
Angular displacement causes an empty space harmful to rotation.
Pairs of opposite weights on the same lever lead to balance.
Scissor systems are complex to implement.
Combined self-propelled scissors concentrate their mass in a wheel dial stop the wheel.
Sliding systems are balancing.
Whether in even numbers or odd arrangement.
The difference of opposite torques does not affect the diameter of the wheel there is a constant.
I still have two ideas to think about, but their potential is not very promising.

its going into the right direction with those scissor-levers i think.
maybe the Solution is simple like this: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8761

Neuberlintourist

J.B

I’ve seen it before and I had a doubt but I don’t know which one.
I’ll compare to see if there’s anything to be gained.

"No. 24: This invention ought not to be scorned. It consists of separate levers with
weights. Between the weights are small iron poles with screw threads. The poles fall
inward when the levers close. There is something one must learn first before one can
grasp and correctly understand the good quality of the invention."

The only free motion is falling , I think MT 24 highlighted on this as did MT 13.
Its all relative.

J.B

Indeed, it can only be the fall, gravity acting only from the top down.
but this fall can be deflected by mechanisms to be found and wisely

Yes and never upwards , so in theory one might say the only achievable reset is one that uses free motion , falling , and not lifting.
For example your Boulier.jpg ,where the only motion used was falling , but , it needs to be higher off instead of down low .

J.B

For JB who loves the downhill.
Screw system half or quarter turn.
not yet finished.
