Fusion Reactor News

Post by MrTim »

This blog post pretty much sums up the latest fusion reactor claim:

http://ace.mu.nu/archives/402300.php

Some excerpts:
US government scientists have made a breakthrough in the pursuit of limitless, zero-carbon power by achieving a net energy gain in a fusion reaction for the first time, according to three people with knowledge of preliminary results from a recent experiment.
Oh, it produced 120% of the energy of the lasers hitting the pellet? So the energy being used on the lasers was the only energy going into the reactor?

No. Not even close.
So, don't panic, it will be awhile, just gotta keep throwing gov't money at it, they'll get it eventually! ;-)

Fusion Reactor News - Book Keeping Irony

Post by agor95 »

Hi MrTim

One of the most expensive jokes there is going.

You have too laugh

We should get on with extracting power from our existing Fusion Reactor.

Remove subsidies from power generation and ask two questions.

1. What is your profit margin, so we can tax you?
2. How must pollution do you produce, so we can fine you?

Then

3. How too grow the power generation which has the lowest fines and pay the most tax.

Not the one that employee the most people [voters] and bend the arms of the most politicians.

I don't think they're claiming it's OU.

I wonder how much carbon was burned to power the lasers?

Ho fusing deuterium and tritium, isotopes of hydrogen, make the reactor radio active.
The spare neutron has to go somewhere.

So when it's declare Fusion is clear there is no radioactivity. Ignore them.
