  • Also, I think it resembles a lot of the information describing Bessler's wheel, if that means any thing.
Wow, I should have saved a screen shot of that!! My 'edit options' were all Chinese characters!!

Holy moly!!

I look at the Bessler clues as ink blots. Everyone sees what they want to.

A Rorschach test. No wrong answers.

Waltcy,
I should have said 16 inches not 18. I was forgetting that the rollers are 2 inches smaller than the drums. Normally, the weights would have to be lifted, say 17 inches, to get them all the way back up to the top. But, with the drums they only have to be lifted about one inch, which is a lot easier. Right, the clues are very suggestive, except the mechanism has only one moving part. How could you get any thing simpler than that? That's what he said right? "--it was so very simple"--. What else? Some thing about, "--how could a heavy body be induced to rise once more--" That's what the casings do, at least most of it----------------------Sam

PS I'm off on my numbers, it's more like 12 inches. I.E., the drums lift the rollers @ 12" and the flat part an additional one inch.

  • If it still doesn't go; the next step will be to add a third drum and roller. The rollers are 7 pounds, which is quite a bit of weight
What I found by simulating is the more mechanisms I add, the worse it gets. A real build could be different.

I should be in my bat cave. :)

If you want to make a 10 stars, I suppose we can take snapshots of the binary at the 10 positions.
I would trade everything to see her again, even a perpetual motion machine…

I have very few ideas left in me, Sam. Hopefully when I finish modeling them, either something will work or I don't get any more ideas.

It has been quite an education. :)

No body gives a dam but, I refuse to give it up, maybe eventually the lights will come on. I think now that Zugg or Zugge refers to the casings. I.E., if he added more Zugge(s), (casings) / weights, (rollers), the wheel would rotate much faster----------------------Sam

FWEIW, The Zugge(s) / casings are the drivers / prim movers, they drive the weights / rollers, if I have it figured out right, that is and, the rollers drive the wheel--------Sam

Here's a statement from B. himself so take it for what it's worth:

"A wheel appears - is it really a wheel, for it does not have a normal rim. It revolves, but without other wheels inside or outside, and without weights, wind or springs." (AP Collins)

Hi mryy, How am I going to get out of this? I think he must be referring to Wagner's turn spit, and or chain weights, for what ever it's worth. Apparently, you have provided proof, from Bessler himself, that I'm full of sh*t! What can I say, I think you are mistaken. He also states that there are no weights; so, how can that be right-------------------Sam

Yeah he could well be referring to Wagner. Follow your instinct Sam.

I just realized, some thing you talked about Fletcher; fits my bull sh*t theory. When these rollers roll out and down the flat place, they strike the rim of the casings with a great force, it's like a hammer hitting an anvil. Anyway, maybe the rollers are the heavy clubs that were hitting the rim of the hoop and stick toy, that the kids were plying with.

How's that for twisting things around? I'm just trying to make a case for the casings----------------------------Sam

mryy that was your post, not Fletcher's! You described the action of my wheel perfectly. That's just my opinion of coarse. However, I can't thank you enough, (sorry mryy). FWEIW, it does seam to fit the hammer men------------------------Sam
