Wubbly goes by the handle "Perpetual Motion Simulations" on YT IINM.

To be honest Fletcher, I still disagree. They, sims, are certainly unbeatable for demonstrating an idea or concept, especially to others. Maybe not so good for inventing something. I couldn't explain to you why, it's just my general feeling about it, if you will forgive me for saying so.

For a much more personal reason; I'm just a better, a lot better, with a hack saw then I am with a key board. You would not believe the amount of iron I have ruined on this project. Anyway, thanks again for your hard work, (until you are better payed)------------------------------Sam

Thank you Fletcher, you are a prince.

wm2d is a very powerful tool, Sam, and operated by someone qualified can cut to the chase like greased lightening with monoutenous regularity.

Wubbly is amazing also.

SIM software allows one to draw a picture, then define its material characteristics then compute all the forces and finally draw the resulting picture

Looked for the the graphic with out the flats, but imagine this has none

A possible design path forward might be [open to suggestions].

any thoughts?

Rest easy Sam .. B. didn't have sims and still crossed the finish line, and so can one of us.

As Walt says they are just a tool in the tool-box. Another hammer or hacksaw etc. Like comparing a nail gun when framing a house to my claw hammer (which I still use btw) lol. fwiw sometimes I have a concept or design that just doesn't lend itself well to simming - either wayout there mechanically or just plain too difficult or complex to sim properly and it spits the dummy (well, on my pissy laptop anyway). So mock-ups and real-world builds become impossible to side-step.

Whether you real-world build, or sim-world build, or do both like me, imagination is still by far the most important quality IMO !!!!. And we all have that to one degree or another. B. had it is spades. That, and extreme diligence. To get him to the finish line. It only took him 10 years lol.

yes indeedie. Thank you.

My thoughts about it has been it is the topological equivalent of a flywheel, yet with significant differences that make it novel.

I'm going to let my ideas form so if any want to add some thoughts, go for it

I don't think it will be a great flywheel.

As it is I'd agree, Kaine. At high rpm's I think the weights would be displaced too much.

I see that as an engineering problem.

One idea I had was to either tap into the RKE to either shift the phase of 2 of the masses wrt the CoR or that of a seperate mechanism.

might be too Rube Goldberg (RG).

One year ago now... :)

The eternal question is where does the energy come from, obviously software won't help you, but it will easily tell you where it dissipates, not where it is.
The only one that shows us the energy in stock is Mt 47. I doubt anyone can do a simulation for us due to the complexity and that is a shame, because in my opinion it is the only one that works lol. I don't give a date on the final, but I'm making progress :).

FWEIW,
The software is absolutely critical to illustrate a concept. With out it, it's very difficult to explain anything. It's not as good as a flywheel, Tarsier, but not bad either. It does have a lot of flywheel action, which doesn't hurt anything. Nothing ever starts or stops, if it ever got going that is.

It's most important characteristic, is the ability to recycle the weights back to the top of the wheel. I don't know of any thing else that can do that.
thx4, I always feel like every thing I do is a big joke to you but, maybe I take things too seriously. Anyway, you have asked the all important question as to where the energy might come from, if any.

Let me try to explain it. As the roller is lifted up onto the 'flat', the casing accelerates it going down hill, (as the wheel rotates). It, the roller, which weighs 7 pounds, it's going down hill like hell and smashes into the side of the casing with great force!!

Maybe I'm not smart enough to know where the energy comes from but, I assure you it's there! And, I certainly didn't predict it------------- Sam

I don't see the great need for Bessler's wheel, as a big joke. However, if you all can find great levity in it then, do your worst!! I remain committed / compelled to finding a way to achieving it----------------------Sam
