1719 - Collection of Matters Relating to the Literature and Art affecting Nature and Medicine -
A celebrated practical mechanic and mathematician, Herr Orffyreus, in Saxony, in 1712, exhibited a complete machine, the result of many years industry, demonstrating perpetual motion. The first model he made measured 2 ½ Leipsic ells diameter, and 4 inches in thickness, able to raise some pounds weight. This he exhibited openly in several places to the nobility, scientific men, and the public.

- WaltzCee ,i am no Bessler scholar and dont really remember everything about him , could you perhaps provide me with a link to this where it shows Bessler found his ideas from that?

Will it be available as an ebook? I have a cnc router table sitting there doing nothing so this will give it something to do.
At the very least I can spin the phone the ebook is on and say....see there? It spins. :)

jb .. I have built many sims of this pendulum on a trolley arrangement over the years - to mainly test the law of COE ..johannesbender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 11:46 am
... If the lifting post was real , i imagine if it was not fixed in place , that the movement inside would have caused it to move around and come to a stop .
A good example , imagine a pendulum , a simple disc with a mass at 12 ,however the disc is mounted on a trolley ,and you are holding the disc in place with your hand such that when released it would swing , now release the disc and allow the pendulum to swing , when the pendulum swings the trolley should start rolling about and weaken the pendulum swing.
I even built versions of the "interrupted pendulum" on wheels - the pend fell and the rope/rod connected a stop on the stand.
When no interruption the pend fulcrum swayed back and forth and the amplitude reduced as you'd expect ..
When interrupted the stand on the trolley moved in jerks across the screen, speeding up and slowing down - but the pend amplitude was reduced just like the You Tube vids etc ..
That linear motion test was my starting point for a comparison with my theoretical Prime Mover mech - and that was when I decided mine wouldn't work linearly as like these experiments of COE held true (i.e. PE + KE = Original GPE given) .. but rotationally might be a different matter - if the wheel stand was at least friction locked to the earth base ..
No time to explain the animation of the sim I just found and grabbed - I'm sure you can follow it ..
Anyways heading out the door on my road trip ..

Could you release some details of the file formats for your router table.
And the max dimensions required in the file?
Thanks

Yeah I was wondering if mobile phone shaped suppositories would be a thing, but then I realized if I put kb's ebook on an actual phone it works just as good.WaltzCee wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 5:39 pm .

The first edition will only be available as an ebook.and this, sir, is why I'll need you to sign a release form before I ship your copy. I know you'll be tempted to sit on your phone & I can't be held responsible.

Re: MTs, WM2D, and WM Basic Language Script Code
I’m not sure about that. The two translocated wheels were nearly 12 feet with 6 foot axles?
It must have been a bitch to move them out of the floor to ceiling supports to another set of supports. Just getting them out of the supports would have involved some disassembly it seems to me.
Re: MTs, WM2D, and WM Basic Language Script Code
eccentrically1, IIRC there was a raised stage built around the wheel which would have given Bessler and his assistants access to the axle mounts so they could lift and translocate the wheel between the two sets of support posts. Given that the axle was over 6 feet off the floor then shouldering the wheel between the support posts would probably require at least a 3 feet high stage on either side of the 12 feet diameter wheel. The staging would also allow examiners to closely inspect the wheel axle (the reason for the translocation) and it might also help control access of bad actors who might try to pull the canvas covering for a peek inside.

How did they lift axle pins out of the bearings?
The pins went through the supports.
Wouldn’t the pins need to be removed?

That's how I understood the story of moving the wheel at the castle. Bessler removed the weights, put one in a hankie for inspection, made a spring go twang putting a weight back.Just getting them out of the supports would have involved some disassembly it seems to me.
Who knows. I think a lot of the facts of this story are immaterial.

Me too. First off nobody saw a spring...they only heard what sounded like a spring when Bessler pressed down. It was pure speculation. If you do further research into the various people who reported things about the wheel, you soon learn that their individual careers and fields of expertise were such they would interpret various things differently.
Imagine someone saying they heard a spring expand upwards. They heard a bang and the traditional vibration of a spring after it's been discharged. But now get a guy who builds and tunes tuning forks to report on what he heard vs a carnival carney working the bell and hammer game to tell what he heard and a musician to report on what he heard.
First guy heard the same sound as if you drop a tuning fork, next guy thinks Bessler was the incredible hulk, and the last guy heard a drum being hit while someone plunked the deepest note on the upright bass as hard as they could.
The speculative reports don't tell you a darn thing of any significance I'm afraid.

Re: MTs, WM2D, and WM Basic Language Script Code
The bearings were left open for inspection. The whole wheel plus axle was lifted out and off the lower bearing shell and carried across to the second set. The two sets of pillars were several steps apart, so that both sets could be examined at the same time. Space was needed to allow several people to attend. The staging gave the examiners the necessary height to closely look at the bearings and the pillars which supported them. Bessler and his brother couldn’t see each other while transferring the wheel so presumably talked to each other to guide themselves during the lift.

Hi JUBAT
It uses gcode generated via v-carve aspire. Max useable size is 30 x 30 at the moment on a 48x48 table.
[/quote]
I will keep a note of dimensions 30 by 30 mm; just in case I create a gcode file of an interesting object.
