Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Hi Waltcy!
No, mryy drew it. Fletcher did make several drawings of it but, later on-----------------Sam
It's worth a million dollars! Or at least a million words. It's an amazing drawing!!

Well, Sam, since who ever drew it put your name on it, so it is now your official property!
I have a sharp perpetually, pointy pencil.
My PPP! :)

It maybe a good image to begin with if you want to describe dimensions & bell cranks & such, I or someone else might upload a different drawing.Sam Peppiatt wrote:

When you look @ your twin star, Sam, you'll notice it's going to need some energy to cause the perpetual OOB condition you want.
I suppose that energy is pushing against the grain; back torque.
A higher frequency motion can ride around with-in a slower rpm/sinusoidal rotation.
The above curves of energy/power were created using mechanics that most skilled in the art of PM are well aquatinted with.
There is a larger band of power in my model than yours, Sam, yet that band is present in your design also.
Tapping into that 'electron shell' changes the frequency & hence the balance of that shell/cloud.
ETA
finally,
The austute observer will note & NB the sys CoM in my model is above the axle. Again, most skilled in the art of PM know how to cause that Bessler clue to mechanically manifest in their designs.

I think they can be. I also believe those skilled in the art of PM know how.eccentrically1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 9:39 pm . .. .. .

Yes, but even though they’re different from each other doesn’t mean they have a gradient to squeeze, does it?

In the 21st century this is known as orthogonal and non-orthogonal force vectors.
. .. .. .
Here is a concept to think on; We have up in a flash globally which is normal up.
Then there is up in a flash locally which is up in relation to the rotating frame.
So if the frame is going clockwise the up in more clockwise along the tangential direction.
So you could have an 'up in a flash locally' but down globally.
- I suppose the question waiting to be asked; What are the details on the location of the pivot point?

I have no idea where the pivot point will be, but I'm gonna throw my guess in the ring and say it's not in the center.

Bell-Cranks don't work. The critics win again-------------------Sam
Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
I don't know about that Sam.
yet the bell crank is some interesting mechanics.
I hate to keep plagiarizing myself . .. .. .waltzcee wrote:Is it realistic to think of the bell crank as a phase shifting transmission useful in squeezing some energy out of a so called gradient between translational & rotational KE?

Sorry Sam. I was hopeful for you.Sam Peppiatt wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 1:41 pm Bell-Cranks don't work. The critics win again-------------------Sam
I wish we knew what approach bessler took. Was it shifting weights, was it pendulums, was it wheels within wheels, or was it something we don't even think of using
Nor equate with movement. We have no blooming idea.
If we at least knew that we would have a great head start.

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Waltcy,
You're right. The bell-cranks work fine in them selves, just not for my application.
JUBAT,
Right; it's very difficult to know what direction to go in. I want to try another set of rollers 90 degrees to the first set. One set would do the shifting and the other set would drive the wheel.
The big advantage is; the shifting rollers / weights won't effect the balance---------------------Sam

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
All the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.
One set of rollers are 16 lbs. each, (total 32 lbs.), and shift 3 inches. When they are vertical they will drive a toggle link connected to the 2nd set of rollers. Which are horizontal and weight 10 lbs. each, (total 20 lbs.) and, can shift 2 inches to drive the wheel twice per revolution.
Anyway that's what's supposed to happen -------------------Sam

Well Sam, best of luck with it. I thought I'd run my mechanical pencil thru it's paces & crank out some ideas yet . .. .. .
I can barely tolerate the little a-hole collecting everyone's pics & labeling them "linked".
That combined with having to log on repeatedly just to post something. I'll be lurking. :)

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Thanks Waltcy,
I think it has all the right stuff, for it to work. I should point out that the toggle link is important for two reasons. It changes the direction of force from vertical to horizontal and reverses them every 1/2 turn of the wheel.
I agree. It was interesting; he was all friendly with Scott after claiming what a weak administrator he is---Sam
ETA, keep lurking!
