uppermost weight
Hi all i thought today i have a clue possibly solved ,the uppermost weight must remain out side the center of gravity , i have struggled with this one for years now, but i think i have that clue solved, my thoughts are as other's have shown that a weight being forced to move across the zenith causes the wheel to rotate by causing the pair of weights to be under the cog with that happening at the zenith the wheel will rotate until the pair reach a point of rest under the axis , what convinces me this is correct is my tests show no drive in the center of the compartment but move it past and you have a good amount of angles of rotation not that much force but constant motion until it gets under the axis where it keels as ever, now i am not saying this will drive the wheel just that it is a part of the motion needed for it to work and a possible explanation this clue , give me your thoughts please people Andy blue

What is your source for this "clue" please ? - it would help to know your context ..the uppermost weight must remain out side the center of gravity

But no mention of an upper most weight-----------------Sam
Upper most weight? Maybe that comes from Ted of Chicago, where he talks about a grind stone, not sure.

"so long as they keep away from the centre of gravity.” does not sound 100% correct to me , perhaps it should have been about staying away from equilibrium positions or the "keel" position .

Don't you suppose that he, Bessler, is referring to the rollers? If they are rolled to one side, I.E., if you keep then out from the center of gravity, the wheel will run indefinitely. And, that's exactly what happens. Just have to find a good way to do that.

It's just so difficult to explain any thing---------
The rotation of the rollers don't cause the wheel to turn. It's the turning of the wheel that makes the rollers turn. They turn / rotate a little slower than the wheel.
It's the weight, of the rollers that cause the wheel to turn if, if they are kept away from the center of gravity.
Fletcher tried to demonstrate this some time ago. But, he dropped the clutch on them, the rollers, had them going a few thousand RPM I guess and, it didn't do a dam thing. I don't know why he did that; why can't some body sim some thing so Godam simple?
The rollers just have to be displaced side ways a little, bit a few millimeters and, the wheel will turn; continuously---------------Sam
