Re: The Wheel is solved in a New Norwegian Patent
Somebody should be able to SIM the one-way easy enough.
Not sure why you are surprised Frog that somebody would want to see a video of the wheel running?

It should have torque as drawn with the 3 mechanisms located and oriented as in in the triangle area , but whether it would reach the reset location at 9 where the spring is suppose to turn the arms vertical - before the cog reaches past 6 is to be seen to believe.
Its all relative.

Hi Frog, first impressions of the one way wheel is that this is not a new idea.
It has been tried many times and I have personally tried doing it in a few different ways.
If this is not just theoretical then can I ask what tests you did to show that it can work?

I am not sure how all the triangles interact with the flywheel.
I was taking it as a bunch of independent triangles; but I guess maybe it isn't.
From some of my previous builds I don't think the is enough pendulum swing there. People assume more CF than there is .To explain myself the pivot is moving in the same direction as the pendulum.

Re: The Wheel is solved in a New Norwegian Patent
The triangles are just highlighting the 3 mechanisms in the first drawing and the 3 weights in the other drawing , as i understand , theres just 3 , the rest is in between positions drawn to show what happens wuth those 3 as the wheel rotates , there is no flywheel he actually means the weights and mehanisms on the right hangs down from theire pivot and arent locked to the rotation of the wheel ,where as from the top to the left going ccw the mechanism assembly becomes locked to the wheel , so he means the left 12 to 6 influences torque/cog to the side and the right 6 to 12 does not influence sidewards cog further than the pivot location , ( according to my understanding of his explanation ).

Interesting concept, I wish you the best with it.
(The topic title increased my heart rate temporarily, but once I saw that it had nothing in common with my own designs, I calmed down... ;-)

This just looks like an over balanced wheel, gravity wheel - it’s not.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you make the same wheel with same movements with one, two, ore more than three pendulums
It will not work because the wheel gets equilibrium positions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s a balanced wheel - it’s working because it’s always in equilibrium.
It’s in equilibrium in any position.
It’s not driven by gravity.
Gravity is not the source for energy.
the patent has the same principle.
This wheel follows the law of physics:
You can’t use gravity as a source for energy.
Anything you do on one side you must undo on the opposite side - at the same cost.
- This is not a gravity wheel.
The reason it’s turning is that one side of the wheel is manipulated
so the potential energy is different in two directions on the same side in every relations
Thanks for your reply.

Re: The Wheel is solved in a New Norwegian Patent
Frog,
I like the gravity one a lot better. That's a really good way to swing the pendulums, I never thought of that. But, they can't lock,(lock to the wheel), from B to A, can they? Also, I don't understand why you can't have more than three----------------Sam
Now I'm really confused!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey sparke .. looking forward to your real-world build of frog's patent design ..sparkshade wrote:

fwiw .. smashed out a sim of something similar in concept this morning for everyones consideration etc - taking a break so posting it now ..
The attachment is a pic of just one pendulum representing the double geared pends , to keep it simple, and show where the system COM/COG is located ( little black circle ) thru 45 degrees increments of rotation ( it is indicative ) .. if I were to go live with this sim the pend and 9 o'cl would have to be released and swing down and around outwards - this would cause a back-torque which is why I think frog has gone with the double geared pends ..
The animation below replaces the double geared pends for a pivoted arrangement in which a disk can slide back and forth in a track - I believe this accurately represents what the double pends would do opening and closing etc ( linearly shifting mass ) - anyhoo, I attached a motor to it to get it going at 12 rpm for a couple of seconds - as suspected there is quite a bit of lag ( time taken to move ) and is affected by Cf's, which would get more pronounced at higher rpms .. you can follow the system COM icon and the graph plot of disk rpm to see any trends developing .. I stress this is only imo indicative of something similar to frogs wheel in his patent, which he says is the real-deal - so I expect he will tell us why his behaves differently than my rough facsimile ..
N.B. I had to use rods with conditions on them to act as both a locking system and a one-way bearing system in one - to keep it simpl-ish - I can tell you that one-way bearings are virtually impossible for me to simulate with any sort of reliability ( even get them to work ) so this was the best workaround I could do - someone else with more experience and skill could probably manage it "eventually" lol .. hence why sparke's 3D print will be fascinating ..
Anyways .. let's give frog an opportunity to reply why his real-world build works when this generic-sim has predictable terminal faults, and how he overcame them - I'd be very interested in his opinions and insights .. we've waited a long time for intelligent answers ..
ETA .. sim of the pivoted track arrangement attached for those interested ..

if the weight follows a track it loses the momentum on the axis of the flywheel, it can’t work.
But the sim is :-*
