Bonjour Thx4,

Hello Thx4,
Yes, there were some strains in the joints.
I solved the problem by simulating ball joints at the wheel joints, where you put hinges on your realization.
The system is dynamic until I put the last weight, then the wheel is balanced!

Hi Shadow

I remember I built one of those a long time ago. I rememeber a few other memebers also built one. Here is one ABHammer built. You can see it in the middle of this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny7O7bAn2uU&t=4s

I think at the time, it just turned me off dual pivot points, but the real take from this mechanism should be that just OB will not rotate a wheel.

Bonjour Tarsier,

Good morning, Tarsier
Thank you for sharing this collection of achievements.
Was there a version that returned the movement of the wheel scissors in the plane of rotation of the wheels?
I think to make a scissor version on rims and Lazytongs in the plane of rotation with weight actuators in the direction of gravity.
I already made a wheel with actuators in the direction of gravity but they were not rearmed in the right place, with convergent wheels the rearmament will be imposed where it is necessary and I would not have the disadvantage of an overweight gathering during the climb.
Do you think it is a heresy?
I think your conclusion about OB is relevant!

J.B

Advance second test of converging wheels
Two sets assembled, lack of material for the other two sets, it will be for 2025!
Happy New Year to all,
J.B

Great build Shadow. Much better than mine. I do vaguely recall even managing to do a sim that sort of mimicked the 3D element in 2D. I bet you can guess the outcome.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "in the plane of rotation with weight actuators in the direction of gravity". But, my stance on any mechanism like this remains the same... It won't work unless your mechanism "lifts lightly" or "drops heavily". Positional OB won't help.

SHADOW,
It's a good idea, the converging wheels, I never would have thought of that-------------Sam

Convergent wheel test results:
Test negative.
The lifting forces of the weights in position 6h and 12h absorbs the gain of eccentricity at 3h and 9h, mechanically it works but it is still in balance.
Adding weights to make it easier to open or close the pantographs does not change anything!

Hi Shadow .. many many years ago I made an almost identical arrangement to you, also using bicycle wheels - instead of using a full SB I started with just a simple expanding V to test the system - and then changed the Vs out for a 2 sectioned SBs - same result as you - I could not find a way to improve it ..

Hi SHADOW!!
Part of the SB is at right angles to the other and converging wheels. It was a good idea; it should have worked. It has to be the most novel wheel I've ever seen. You should save it------------------Sam

Bonjour Sam!

Hello, Sam!
After reflection I realized that all the weights were in permanent ascent, which consumes all the gain brought by the eccentration!
I’m going to try a permanent downhill, I am optimistic but I’m not sure it will work!

Shadow this is an old tried and tested concept by various individuals which can be found around youtube , but good luck .
Its all relative.
