Hi all!
My real name is Wilco, I'm an 18 years old ICT Student in the Netherlands.
My favorite music type is Metal and I do lots of fun/stupid things with my friends...blablabla...
i've found PM rather interesting since i've read something about it on the internet when I was 13 or so. I don't know if I can be of any help with (re)inventing it but i'll do my best!
That's about it about me, anyone who want's to know more is free to ask.
PS. Anybody ever tried something with the prince Sabu bowl (tri-lobed bowl)?

Welcome. Use the search feature Wilco. Gill Simo put up a theory about the prince Sabu bowl but didn't get a lot of feed back at the time. Check his thoughts out. You may like to add to them.

i've read those 2 pages, but i was wondering if any one tried to make such a thing to see if it actually works?

Here's a link that has a good picture of the original artifact. The artist's rendering as an oil lamp looks pretty spiffy.

That bowl does have a weird, futuristic look to it...sort of like a hub cap or something. It seems that it was used to hold oil and placed on the end of a rod to elevate it. Perhaps there were no wicks involved, and the oil was directly ignited. The folded over lobes might have helped air flow into the center of the fire to support combustion. Maybe this produced some sort of vortex effect that made the resulting flame spin as it rose above the bowl. I'm surprised that no one has made a replica, filled it with a flammable liquid, and ignited it to see what would happen.
Anyway, I do not see its relevance to the subject of OU/PM...

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:
Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ
Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ
