Hi, guys.
1- This is just for the records...
Since dec/16th, I and some Solidworks licensers are working in a 4D model, that will reach a good chance to be conclusive.
It's incredible the quantity of obstacles one need to deal for this kind of stuffs!!!
Now, we'll need to simulate springs for action of the locking arms, since the software doesn't accept gravity everywhere and in all pieces ( at least this is what say people in Solidworks, beside they confirm the good sw performance for the case).
A 3 giga equipment will be needed; in the group there is a mechanic ingeneer that bets my frcm will work... so as me... :]
2- Have you seen to ''The Power of Myth'', with Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers? I bet as some of you will recognize himself in the matter. There is a double disk DVD. Better to see it! Some will see that a bigger deal is sometime in action... I mean, much higger and refined deal...

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:
Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ

what add-on are you using to create the simulation? Cosmos Motion? The inbuild simulation within Solidworks is only for viewing/animation purposes, but not for real force calculations.

The *ex-friends* gave up on last monday, jan/30! I made pression and after 7 weeks they said that my simulation is impossible to be done BY THEM and sent my money back.
All I have now is just a temptative static draw, with some 1200 'parts' and I'm looking to someone else. KosmosVision, CAE, or whatever, must be used.
A manager guy I spoak at SW said my draw SEEMS to be easy to unexperienced people.
The partial draw I have is almost complete and with some mistakes, but anyhow it's absolutely impressive!!!
There is no way avalanchedrive will not work, except for human stupidity!

In a different thread there was a photograph presented that showed part of the chain used in the AvalancheDrive device and I think I remember you writing that you had supplied the image to the site that the image was copied from.
So, if you already have the chain that is used, then why are you trying to make a 3D vitual model of the device? Why do you not just build the device and see if it works?

I have still to a 120kg chain in steel and a part that is assembled in the form of chain, as apears in that photo.
Even if I try to mount a set with less elements, I am *absolutely* not a hands-on guy.
A 50kg set should be ok, at least to a small show.
Case I find some place I'll try again. Got an uggly fail at years ago!
The ideal should be a team. My time is too short. It's too hard to be a lonely wolf.
You can see that I try to envolve people... this is not a bad stuff, is it?

sorry, must have missed that mail. I think the forum might not like Edrawings. Just use my email, its in my profile. Or put it on one of those file-sharing webpages if you like to make it accesible for everyone and post the link, sure I'll have a look.
One thing you can do if you'd like to model it up yourself is to contact your local Solidworks Reseller and ask for the "Personal Edition". That is like a trial version (FOR FREE) and the included training sessions will bring you up to speed quickly. The 'license' you get is for 30/90 days? But noone hinders you to reapply once the time is over *hint hint*
Might also be of interest for the others here who would like to create a 3d model to generate drawings etc. BUT as mentioned in my ealier post, the basic simulation environment is only for viewing purposes, to show the behaviour of a mechanism.

I think I can make a wm2d model of Murilo's chain. I took the VB code that I already had and pasted it onto the WM script editor. After editing, it now places all the weights where they are supposed to be and connects the rods between them. That's as far as I got.
Next I will connect an actuator between each inner weight and the center of each of the two radii. Each outer latch rod and each actuator will need a formula to make them active at the proper time.
If all goes well the actuators will act like sprockets and the outer rods will act like latches. The actuators will only be active when they are located as shown in the attached picture.
Maybe this will prove to Murilo whether it works or not.
