Gene,
ClipBoard Viewer is a utility program, which does NOT seem to be a standard Windows program, so only those who have installed this utility will have it. There seems to be many different clipboard utilities available out there.
http://www.clipboard-viewer.com/
I personaly don't see any need for a add on Clipboard Viewer since most Windows applications can copy and paste to most any other Windows application. I've been copying drawings from my BobCad program into Windows Word. This way I make a number of individual drawings then group them all together into Word which provides a header along with automatic page numbering.

Jim,
Clipboard viewer is a microsoft product but some machines might not have it installed. Most people don't have a problem posting a screen shot. I don't know why Robert is having a problem. I was wondering if he's even capturing the graphic. If you look at the clipboard and see the graphic there you at least know it's made it that far. Then you can try to paste it into different applications. I've pasted graphics into word also. I've pasted graphics of text from adobe.
Gene
ps edit: clipboard viewer is a standard windows or microsoft product but might not be included in some installations. I've installed windows several times and you have the option of what to include.

Gene,
I have an HP Pavilion, and XP. No clipboard viewer in the system tools menu.
robert
Woah!! I just tried the blue fn key and the print screen key and it worked pasting into Word...
Then was able to also paste it into Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and converted it into a .pdf.
This is just a shot of something I was fooling with awhile ago...not "live"

After your post I did another search and found that Microsoft indeed has a Clipboard Viewer program. Reality Studio also has a product named 'Clipboard Viewer" which my first search found. Sorry for the confusion.

Does anyone have a demo copy of wm2d version 7 that they could e-mail me at hishouse@internetdetelgua.com.gt I am trying something that isn't working with the newer version 8. Please e-mail it to me and then post a reply so my box doesn't fill with programs.
Thanks for taking time to do this.

Are you trying to Copy your screen to the Clipboard memory by just pressing only the Print Screen button? When I do it, I must either press Ctrl + Print Screen or Alt + Print Screen. That two keys to do it.How have you all been pasting screen shots of your WM designs?
I tried the print screen button, but nothing to paste.

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:
Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ
Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ

I am running "Windows XP, under accessories I find "note pad" but no viewer. I do have "Windows Movie maker"
so I am asking, to paste a screen copy to the forum I press control or alt and PrtScr and then paste to Note Pad, then do I "save as" into a jpg, Bmp, or gif, and then attach to the forum "Add attachment???
The only way I now know of is to prtScr and paste in "Power point" I can then do a "save as" and browse from there.
How does one post a picture or icon within the text window as I have seen Gene and others do repeatedly?

PS... A great little Freeware screen capture utility can be obtained from this site: http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html
This will allow you to capture anything you want and then save to jpg or any other common file format. Very easy, and I recommend it to any persons who are still using the "Printscreen" method etc..
You use the Img button to paste the link of the picture that you want to show. Remember to close the tag afterwards. Use the preview button to see whether you have entered the correct text, picture & format etc..How does one post a picture or icon within the text window as I have seen Gene and others do repeatedly?

Spiros,
Thanks for that tidbit. I've tried before to paste into the text box like Ralph has, and wondered how you all were doing it.
One thing. My computer keyboard doesn't seem to have an "Img" key.
Maybe one of the f1,2,3 etc keys pressed with another one?
robert
Edit
Like a dope, I see the img button now. It's above the text box. Sometimes I think I'm not qualified to find PM.

One thing you can do if you're using the image, url or list, etc is to mouse over those buttons and when the explanation is shown on the purple line is to select it, then copy it .....
Insert URL: http ://url[ / url] or [url=http ://url]URL text (alt+w)
only select the part that you want to use.....
[ url =http://url] URL text[/ url]
then paste it into your message and fill in the blanks. You can use an image for the URL text and make a picture link to something else. Making an image link to the site you found it is a good way to give that site credit; citing your site or source.

To "hot link" to someone else's image file, just left click on the image and then right click "Properties". When that box appears, highlight the URL of the image and copy it to Clipboard (Ctrl + C).
Now, when you are on the post editing page, paste the URL of the image into your post, highlight it, and then left click the Img button on the tool bar above the post text field. One problem I've found with this is that the BBCode being used does not allow one to size one's image that they are inserting into their post. This can be done with BBCode, but not on this Discussion Board for some reason.
It's no big deal once you've tried it a few times. The problem with this technique is that if the file name of the image you are using is changed, then a future reader of your post will only see the "missing image icon" instead of what you wanted to appear in your post. I think one is better off uploading images into a separate attachment to one's post. That way, they will be available forever...or, at least, until this board's server's hard drive breaks down...

Ken,
There are a lot of ways to do the same thing with computers. My brother got a degree from osu in computer science before they had a computer science department (independent study) and they way he put it is that although anyone can write a program not everyone is a programmer. Maybe a better comparison is that although anyone can write a short story not everyone is a writer.
I use netscape and I seldom use control 'c'. If I'm selecting something with the mouse rather than put my hands on the keyboard (since I already have the mouse in my hand) I right click and the option of 'copy' is in a pulldown. At times that's not an option then I'll use control 'c'. The way I usually do something is with minimum effort.
The point you made about an image not being at a site is a good one. That touches on the idea that was discussed a while ago about having your own web page or what I was actually talking about of having a site on the web. There's a lot of detail that goes into the idea of a web site and I think one of them is stability. Any site will change over time. I think that there's an obligation to maintain what was once there as a site changes; that creates stability that's good for everyone that would use your site.

Good point Gene. I would say if you want an image to be consistently available here on the board, your best bet is always to upload it as an attachment, and never link to it with BBCode.

There are also free image web hosting sites which will allow you to upload your images and then provide you with a web link which you can use within your web page.
I have noticed some of my images disappear over time when the content of the referenced link page has changed! The problem is that the control of content of the referenced site is totally out of our hands!
A good site to try is "Imageshack".. http://img233.imageshack.us/
This site is excellent for hosting your images.
