Image problems
Hi All,
In order to make some improvements I have in mind for the site, I had to start by upgrading the version of PHP from 4 to 5. Boy was that a challenge. I finally got it working in the wee hours of the morning last night, but there are still some problems. The Album feature, for example, which also allows you to view image attachments full sized, is broken. But the inline thumbnails still work. (Thanks Mick)
I will try to get everything working again as soon as I can. In the meantime, sorry for the inconvenience. Also, please don't hesitate to let me know if you discover anything else that is not working correctly since the upgrade.
Thanks,
Scott

OK, looks like I got images and albums working again. If anyone finds something else broken, please let me know.
This version of phpbb (2.x) does not officially support the newest version of php (5), so it has taken a lot of hacking to make it work. But a great new feature I'm working on requires php 5, so it will be worth the effort.
Thanks,
Scott

re: Image problems
Scott, sometimes when I click on the link I received from an replied thread I am subscribed to, I get : This thread no longer exists.
So I have to manually visit the thread and the thread still exists..

re: Image problems
Scott,
I am rather impressed with your collection of early 1940 vintage war posters. As a child of preschool age I remember them well. Do you have the originals or did you find these on the net.
If there is a link to this collection I would like to know of it.
Thank You
Ralph

Re: re: Image problems
LIB, does this happen consistently? Did it just start happening? I have not heard of it before. Anyone else have this problem?

re: Image problems
Scott, when you were testing some of your programming you would post something and by the time I progressed through the unread links list then you had deleted that post and I recieved a message stating that thread or link does not exist. I don't think it's a continuing problem but only a temporary one that existed only while you were debugging your code.
re: Image problems
Ralph, I got them off the Internet, from the website of a band I enjoy called A Perfect Circle. http://www.aperfectcircle.com/
They are inspired by 1940's war posters, but are in fact modern works of art making a statement about the *current* situation in this country.
I like them. Here are some more.

re: Image problems
I think Jim is right, it doesn't happen anymore, but another problem I have now is when I give a reputation vote, I get several php errors..
But the reputation is set correctly.

re: Image problems
Whoa, thanks LIB, I see that. I will look into it as soon as I can (hopefully tonight after work).

No problemo Scott!
You will hate me, but, there is this problem we couldn't resolve before .. When I log out, my password still expires each time ..
I don't know how I could fix it however..

re: Image problems
LIB, that sounds more like a problem with your computer settings. Do you have same problem with other web-sites that require passwords?
Or your cookies may have gotten scrambled which happened to me once a while back with my old computer. Scott added the delete cookies button on the home forum page after that. I'm not sure how positive it is in deleting the Bessler forum cookies. My gut feeling is if the cookies have been scrambled then the web commands might not be able to delete them and you might need to do it manually. Numerious cookies can cause problems because the computer may write to one cookie then later read from another cookie. The computer seems to gets confused as to which cookie it is supposed to be using. I'm not sure what the cause of muliple cookies is, but I had about six besslerwheel cookies with different names and/or index numbers. After I deleted them all manually then things worked OK again.

re: Image problems
Jim, sure I tried everything you said with no success.
I deleted my cookies 100 times, I tried the link on the forum to delete cookies..
The only way it will work, is by logging with a newly sent password and set remember me, otherwize, it tells me that my password has expired..
I also tried internet explorer and firefox.. Same thing .
I never had that kind of problem elsewhere.

LIB ...Don't log out from Besslerwheel.com
If you ticked the "remember me" box to set the cookie it will be deleted
if you log out
