found a way for offset ballance by holding one----------

Post by Wheeler »

Hello all
I just found a way to fix the offset balance
on a dryer.
Here it is:
Lay on your back, and open the dryer door.
Now put your foot on the edge of the opening and push up.
The dryer will pick up easily because of leverage.

Now it is easy to spin the threaded bolt legs up or down, because you can hold the dryer up 2 inches or so.

Warning;
Don't push too hard, cause you might pull the vent hose off.

Ain't that cool! No tools required.

Wow, that was random

But, I see your point.

Thanks Ox
Im working on a way to do the same to the washer, but without any tools, it is a hard one.

Anyone know a way to do this without holding it up with one hand?

If I can crack this one, I may go to more complicated things.

PS she also wants the lights fixed in the living room, but as you know Bessler research first then lights when I get some free time :)

maybe a fulcrum with lever on top

it might be that if you jump on that lever hard enough you could get a couple of spins on that warsher

maybe get some wheel ideas

JB,
Anyone know a way to do this without holding it up with one hand?
Most washing machines only have adjustable legs on the front while the back is considered "self-leveling after getting the front adjusted.

Put one overly fed house cat in washing machine and set for the spin cycle. This will provide you with the out of balance pulsation that will take the weight off of the front legs. Adjust, as it is jumping up and down.

Note this may take more than one spin cycle, but do not worry, cat will not mind as long as you do not open door.

If you do not have a cat, I have one that was dumped on me by an in-law that I would be more than happy to loan you!

I thought about all three ideas and I really didn't want to put out any work to do it.
Then it came to me. Or should I say I caught the idea Ralph suggested!

If you have enough room to the front of the machine you
could try using a garden fork as a lever.

Insert the tines under the front lip and gently raise the handle.

A wooden block might be useful under the raised handle to hold it in position.

Put an offcut of timber WIDER than your hand under the lip as a safety
measure while your fingers are underneath..

A great craftsman would be that man who can "lightly" cause a heavy weight to fly upwards!

Take care!

Remove the door and use it as a lever.

Less weight to lift !

Good idea but then the door is broke.
Remember think before you act!

I like the fork lift but some of us don't have access to one. (I didn't go for the washer/dryer/forklift option when I bought them).

We must find a way to adjust the legs using our own body as the leverage tool.
I hope to find the answer. If I do I will post a photo.

Nah you don't break the door, you use it between two cushions, good as new!

Forklift stinks

A resourceful construction worker would never be seen without his OSHA approved steel toed shoes on.

Simply tip the top of the washer back and stick your toes under it, meanwhile the spouse does the leg adjusting.

Steel toed shoes can very handy for many uses, I find them great for lifting 4X8 sheets of MDF. Simply set it on your toe and then you can get your hand under it.

I wanted my girlfriend to try what I thought might work, and get a photo of her when she did it, but she said;
(IM NOT DOING THAT)!!!
So I may have to try to take a photo of myself while I do it but the effect would of been better if she did it.

Ralph I know about the steel toe, but remember no tools!
Leverage is the answer though.
