Mono-monostatic Bodies

Post by Gregory »

This is slightly related... http://springerlink.com/content/kg7478m3l4394666/

I have just heard in the local radio today, that two Hungarian guy figured out something interesting, called mono-monostatic bodies.

It is a class of three dimensional homogeneous bodies which have less than 4 equilibrium. The article shows one which has only 2, one stable and one unstable equilibrium (or position).

The body made from one material, and it is a special 3 dimensional geometrical shape. They compared it to a tippe-top. The interesting thing is that it does not contain weights or anything other than itself...
They also compared the shape to a turtle shell and noticed some similarity.

Here are the related articles in Pdf format. The last one is rather for mathematician guys who like reading equations, integrations and such...

Yes, we are. ;]

I'm weak in maths, but natural things, such as sunflower, seashells, pine-cone... so spirals, fractals, Fibonacci numbers, etc. make strange impressions in me.

I think people, including the greatest mathematicians still don't exactly understand what these things represent / symbolize and why. I also have no idea.

But something is going on with them...

Nature way of replicating itself.. !?

Before I even start thinking about free energy, I was trying to "simulate" the universe on my computer..

I made a program that would get a chaotic function and using the variables I tried to get simple things to build up on my screen ..

I saw simple toruses, star field, some movement, galaxies spirals, soem lifeforms..

Really, it was just a matter of the variables you set in the function and things were drawn on the screen and sometimes it gave impressive results.. but sure enough, I didn't go much further and went to another project..

I really dream about this software, where I enter the date, time, position and I see what is happening in real time on my computer screen ..
That would be so nice ...

Yeah, that would be too nice... I think I will be very frightened when you would show me your program working! :) I recommend you to read the book: A briefer history of time from Hawking.

So as I see, we are crazy on the same way... Guess what did I try to crack before, just for fun?

Lottery numbers...
I was good enough programming in the old Pascal. I downloaded the whole 5/90 lottery database, sorted in a text file, and began to analyze hoping I can find some correspondence, cause - result, or pattern... Finally I found some little thing, and programmed all of them to narrowing the possibilities for new number generations. It worked, I think, but not good enough.

After some time, I wasn't surprised anymore when the program threw out a 4 hit from 1500-2000 lines. It was usually to threw out 2 & 3 hit series from not too much try.

The source was terrible to see, full of logical operators in big blocks and such. Once I showed it to a programming guy friend, and I could see on his face he thinks I am completely crazy.

But after all it wasn't a magic wand, and I wasn't as stupid, so I didn't spend my money on lottery, just wrote & expand the program for fun. :) After 12 - 20 thousands of lines and over 6-7 source code files, pascal gave it up... So I. It was also bad to work on it.

But perhaps, once I will give it another try with Delphi, or C++. However I didn't try programming for a 1,5 years now.

Hahah .. Greg, we have more in common than I thought..

Turbo pascal and Delphi are my favorite programming languages..

I have a friend that did just that, but I believe he didn't go as far as you did. .

I can send you the software if you are interested in it, with the source.. It's under developpement so it's not a nice little user-friendly software, but it does the job !

Well here it is.. I stripped some functions in this version, but essentially you can create strange stuff by changing the variables etc..

The things I stripped, were the chaotic compression function I tried to create.. Another project ...

Try something fun try these variables :

-0.634
1.6669
-0.7
-1.9
50000 EXP

In 3D

Play with the input where you arebored..

Thanks!

I downloaded. Tried to run, but for some reason do not want to work. It always say the same: Invalid initial value.

What to give it for initial value?

Awhhhhh that depends on how your windows is setup ..
If you are using , instead of . in the decimals of your numbers in windows, it will act this way..

Try 0,00 instead of 0.00..

That should do it ..

Yes, the dot solved the problem... Wow! Cool! A bit addictive... Thank you! :-) So, you wrote it in Delphi... Good, I think I will learn programming in it soon or later.

The curves your program draw reminds me of the CERN particle experiment pictures. http://press.web.cern.ch/press/PhotoDat ... lcome.html

One of my favorite:

The variables you wrote were really fun... Have you more noted? 8]

Hey Greg!

I didn't note much of the variables I tried.. But play with them, put negatives and play with Input buttons and you'll get interesting stuff !

The Input buttons are inserting noise into the functions..

The CERN images are real nice.. Looks chaotic, I like it .. 8]
