approaching 100,000 visits... and a prize drawing!

Post by scott »

Hello All,
We are quickly approaching 100,000 visits on the besslerwheel.com homepage counter! This is big milestone for our little corner of the web. So, to celebrate the occasion, I have decided to hold a random prize drawing for a free copy of Bessler's Apologia Poetica. (~$50 value)

The winner will be selected randomly from the verified memberlist as soon as the counter hits 100,000. So if you haven't signed up yet, now's the time!

-Scott

Good point Tim. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Hopefully, the winner will want to get a free copy. If not, I'm sure something can be arranged...

My translation of "Das Triumphans" is almost ready. I'd be happy to donate a copy for give-away. It will be similar to "Apologia" in having the original text plus drawings and full English translation.

Just a reminder that the prize drawing is coming right up! (...as I post this message the homepage counter stands at 99,342). As soon as the counter hits 100,000 I will randomly select an eligible member to receive a free copy of John Collins reproduction of Bessler's Apologia Poetica.

Only members with active accounts who have visited the discussion board at least one time will be eligible for the prize drawing. Below are the currently ineligible usernames (i.e those users who have inactive accounts or who have never visited the discussion board before):

Code: Select all

I thought the 100,000th person would be the winnner, and I was wondering how you'd know who that was, this makes more sense.

Hmmm, I decided to hold a random drawing so that people wouldn't be tempted to artificially inflate the counter as we approached 100,000. Looks like that happened anyway.

100,000 visits... This is quite a milestone for our little corner of the web! Thanks to everyone for coming to the site and especially for participating on the discussion board.

I will hold the random drawing as soon as I find some time, probably tonight or tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Sorry for the delay everyone. I've sat down to select a winner a couple of times now, but the Beslan atrocity has really affected me deeply and I've been unable to follow through. In fact, I've had trouble getting anything done this week (including work at my "real" job). The prize drawing was supposed to be a festive event, but I'm not feeling festive at all these days.

I'll commit to doing it this weekend though. Thanks for your patience and sorry again for the delay.
