Well .. we get our fair share of people with "big hats - no cattle" to quote a board member recently. That's the reality in this 'fringe' science area where the envelope is continually being pushed - it's not always good science or even good ideas but everybody is shown a modicum of respect until they show reason why that should not be so.

This makes it a safe & fertile place to come & talk & perhaps share ideas - but to be a successful discussion board requires it be self moderated, to find the right balance of innovative thinking & healthy rebuttal & providing the participants don't get to draconian or dogmatic then the discussion can ebb & flow & occasionally new things can wash up on the beach where you can bend down & say "that's interesting".

Humbugger,

I see that you just joined us on the 5th of this month and that you have waited until the 16th to make your first post. That is unless you have been around by another profile such as compared to "ash-epi"

I also am a lurker of ou.com and have been a member for considerable time. I also am recognized over at Panacea or what ever you call it.

Bottom line for now is "Kudos" to you and I feel that you did a damn good job of playing the pessimist regarding this Chas Campbell scenario. IMO a pessimist is a basic fundamental need for true and honest research. I myself am a member of Eric kriegs fraud squad, but that does not mean that I do not search for the answer to over unity devices.

As always I offer those who lack the resources, lack of empirical hands on skills, or physical handicaps my services.

Taking note of your occupational history I believe we have a lot in common!

EDIT!
Anyway, I thought you fellows might enjoy hearing the end of the story on the Charles Campbell machines.
It may be over for you as far as input, but I do not believe the story has reached its last chapter. I foresee this being around for a while and pushed to the end of the envelope. I find it amusing how the ou.com Chas thread has drifted from page 27 to 54.

Hi Humbugger and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your update on the Campbell/Ashweth con. Epi is clearly unstable and aggressive. Unfortunately, he's also thick as a brick when it comes to anything technical. Not a useful mix. Perhaps you're right and that it's all just a cover to hide money making scams - at least then his rediculous behaviour would have some reasoning behind it.

Hartmann's loss is our gain :)

I think Epi is genuinely passionate about new energy technology, green issues and generally making the world a better place.

However, he'd need to stop humping the leg of every charlatan that comes along looking for a sucker to champion their delusion and frauds. That and improve his social skills and basic education.

I don't think he's in it for financial gain (including fraud) - given his priviledged background, but rather recognition and respect.... which he is not getting here.... to his evident frustration!

Coylo,
I think Epi is genuinely passionate about new energy technology, green issues and generally making the world a better place
And that is why he would have been my last choice to be the one to do an analysis's of Campbell's claims. I would say that he is a little biased wouldn't you.

I have stayed somewhat clear of this issue as I did not wish to pass judgment on a member at the bottom of the barrel. EPi, added my name and standing to his group and promised me by private post that he would keep me informed of any findings. I have heard nothing!

I don't think he's necessarily a fraud in the sense of personal greed, although that's possible. I really mean to say that he's a fraud in terms of purporting to be involved in science in any way. And in the obvious twisting and exaggerating and reporting things as if they were proven facts when really they are his hopes based on someone's sayso.

His greed, as coylo suggests, is more for undeserved respect than money. He wants to be the king of new energy. The hero and the absolute ruler of the new regime. Doing a google of Ashtweth Nihil Dasien brings up some interesting posts from other forums where his tyrannical and megalomaniacal traits shine through clearly.

Ash is sidling up tight to Lawrence Tseung over on OU.com , as well, and is adding "Larry T" to Panacea's website. Ash likes the "pulsed resonance" ideas; they give huge leeway for phoney measurements.

As rlortie suggests, Ashtweth and Stefan do appear to have no intention of letting the Charles story die out, but rather to turn it into a promo for Ash's "RV work". That's another whole fantasy fiasco going on over there. OU.com has always seemed like a cartoon to me...there's just so many totally transparently idiotic ideas that are encouraged so fervently by Stefan, who must know better.

Anyway...I don't want to earn a reputation as solely a personality-basher here, although I can't think of a more deserving target than Ashtweth Nihilisti Dasien Glen Palise, Almighty Ruler of the Realm of Imaginary Energy. Champion of the Suppressed Inventor and Avenger of the Martyred.

It does sadden me to have to admit that I have become almost purely cynical and pessimistic about the prospect of seeing a true "free energy" invention in my remaining few years. I have to be honest and admit that my interest is held mostly by wondering what the next scam and/or delusion will be and how the inventor and promoters will manage to prolong it. It's far more a study of abberant psychology, gullibility and human folly than any science about energy.

By the way...Stefan is responding to many outcries against my banning by now accusing me of being nasty to Gaby deWilde and posting his picture. Of course, he erased the post before making this claim. Gaby is a funny guy and so am I at times. We have gotten along fine with never an insult of any kind between us despite the fact that we are rather polar opposites in our beliefs and thought processes.

During a boring lull in the raging debates about Chas' machines, Gaby posted a picture of Marilynn Monroe and said it was a picture of the real Gaby. He joked about being infatuated with me. I joked back and posted four pictures, asking him to guess which one was the real me. One of them was a real picture of Gaby that he has plastered all over his Yahoo site where he links to from ou all the time.

There was never any hostility or put-down or bad words or ill intent on either of our parts, yet Stefan is now making this out to be the reason he banned me, after removing the one post so he can say that I was insulting Gaby and no one can prove different. Funny how my "You are banned..." message I get when I go to the site now says it was for "too many skeptical posts and harassing Ash".

It's clear to me that I was banned because I wouldn't let up on Ashtweth's continuing fraudulent claims of "self-running RV using the neon circuit", which are pure bull. It was politics. On with the show...

Humbugger,

Your quote edited for brevity;
I have to be honest and admit that my interest is held mostly by wondering what the next scam and/or delusion will be and how the inventor and promoters will manage to prolong it. It's far more a study of aberrant psychology, gullibility and human folly than any science about energy.

First off, feel free to refer to me as Ralph and not rlortie.

I have been collecting scams and delusions for 50 years, I have a bookshelf full of them dating back before the advent of computers. The good old days when you subscribed to Keely by mail!

Forced into earlier retirement than intended due to health(2002), I now consider chasing over-unity or new sources of energy a full time job. I have had my share of time with those chasing magnetic and electromagnetic powered machines.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I belonged to 10 forums some of which I was considered a charter member. I now only attempt to keep up with three, JLN, this one and Eric Vogel's minatowheel over on yahoo.

My point is do not give up on what you seek! I can only say that it is what is keeping me alive and a purpose to fight off my detrimental health problems. It is an insatiable urge that drives me forward. If you as you state are bed-ridden then I say to you, do not give up.

From what we've seen on this forum, from what I've read on other forums, and also from your above descriptions, it's hard to see it any other way. Personal greed, whether it be for fame, fortune, respect, whatever, always seems to lead down the same path of depravity. Different breeds of parasite all seem to have one thing in common - their own good at the expense of others.

Anyone can make an honest mistake, but a person who consistently lies, cheats, steals, misrepresents, or supports such, is a fraud in my books - a bloodsucking parasite - and should be scraped off at the earliest opportunity.

Epi did when he joined - about how he went to the same school as Prince Charles, when someone ragged him about his grammar & sentence structure - so I'm making a big assumption here, that being, that indeed good ole Prince Charlie went to a privileged private school sometime while in Australia [probably his gap year about 40 years ago] ???? - other than that they seem to have scant in common.

Humbugger,

You claim to have a background in electronics, I have a little quiz test for you.

Remove the center coil from a 1940's vintage saturable reactor and add in its place a permanent magnet. What does it now look like and who does it remind you of?

IMO you will never get more out of a copper coil of any configuration than you put into it.

Exactly my point Fletch - what are the chances of that being just more lies and deception? These people say what they like to suit themselves.

Thanks, Ralph...

I appreciate your sentiments. Sounds like you may have had a bit of a rough ride since 2002 yourself. Your passion level doesn't seem to have suffered much though, and that's good.

I'll have to check out these other sites you mentioned. I'd love to find the same kind of passion you describe but, so far, all I've seen are delusions and scams and the same story dressed up a thousand different ways.

Once I get back on my feet and get set up again to tinker, I don't yet know what I'll even fool around with. Could be not having that vision in mind is part of what's got me knocked down so hard.

This is a copy and paste post from ou, yes I borrowed it without permission, but I really like the way this guy puts things. He calls himself "roadrunner and has made 8 posts total (as of this one)

Winkle, if you are seeing this read it carefully and be thorough, This has to do with your question on another thread.
Hi,
I've been reading lurking for a short while, reading about Mike's capacitor driven bedini motor and Chas Cambell's wheel (bless that guy, he's a star).
However, I am horrified at the willful ignorance and downright stupidity displayed in this forum.
I'm not a skeptic. I believe that there are 'free energy' systems to be found and harnessed. Haven't we already succeeded in such with hydroelectric power ? Clean, safe, renewable. More energy out than it takes to maintain. People like Chas, Bedini, Naudin and others may well stumble upon something that takes humanity to a new level in respect of our use of natural resources.
Having said that, I think we need the skeptics. I try to remain skeptical and impartial when evaluating a system. It's all too easy to look for the results you want to see...
Humbugger may not be the most tactful of posters, but he's withstood post after post of insults and snide comments from certain members of this forum, without stooping to their level and indulging in a tirade of insults and abuse.
He tried time and again to patiently explain to Stephan why Chas Cambell's wheel wouldn't work and Stephan repeatedly missed the point and asked for torque calculations for a system despite having been shown umpteen times that no matter what the torque calculations showed for any given moment in the cycle, overall, the system would fail. I can understand why he was getting frustrated... I was getting frustrated reading it !!! Despite his frustration, he remained reasonably calm and collected. He was attacked at every opportunity by Ash and eventually banned... for being patient Huh Hmmmmm...... Isn't an internet forum a great place Huh One can silence the critics by pressing the 'ban' button instead of using reason...! Well, if you ain't got the facts to support your position, you've always got the 'ban' button, eh Stephan ?

As for Zero.
Heck, boy... You've been told a number of times that you need to brush up on your physics and that you don't know what you are talking about...
It's because of your willful ignorance and constant straw-man arguments that I signed up to this board...
You think you've got some superior secret knowledge because you think you know how to perform a one-inch punch Huh? You know zip !!!!
Here's an experiment for you and don't even bother to respond to me until you've gone away and performed it because otherwise I shall just point out that you are being willfully ignorant once more.
I don't want to hear more straw-man arguments about teeters and kegs of beer...
There's a BIG difference between dropping something and letting it roll down a slope and this is where you are setting up straw-men.
Take a set of scales - The sort that you might find in your bathroom.
Take a large heavy weight that will roll. Weigh it. Write that weight down.
Now, take something that you can place on your scales which will give you a slope, down which you are going to roll your weight. Tare the scales so that they display 0.0 once more (thereby eliminating the weight of your ramp from the equation).
Now, this ramp represents Chas Campbell's tubes... The ones the balls roll down and go SMACK when they hit the end...
Right now, I'm not interested in that smack... We know that it imparts energy, that's not in dispute, the Newton's Cradle is working proof of that. What I am going to demonstrate to you is from where it gets that extra energy and hopefully you'll see why those who know what they are talking about are telling you that you don't. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Zero... They're right.

Place your weight on the ramp on your scales and allow it to roll down the ramp, falling off the end and off the scales.
Did it show the same weight as when it was sitting still ?? No. Why ?
Gravity will pull the weight downwards but, the ramp translates some of that downward force into lateral force. The weight is pushed sideways. Therefore, when being displaced by the ramp, the weight registers less on the scales.
This has nothing to do with riding up and down a train carriage on a trolley being pushed by someone else... That's just another straw-man argument. The big difference between your straw-man and the genuine case is that in your scenario, the trolley and train are on the level and the trolley is being pushed or pulled. If your train was heading downhilll and the guy was riding on the trolley, being pulled downhill by gravity, then he would apparently weigh less if he were also riding a set of scales on that trolley... This is because the support (the train), is falling away from him... NASA use the science behind this phenomenon to create what we know as the vomit-comet. The plane falls away from the passengers at the same rate that they fall to Earth, thereby simulating the conditions found in orbit. Freefall.
Chas' tubes and his pool-balls aren't in freefall, of course, but the rotation of the wheel (in effect, the tube falling away toward ground) and the slope of the tube (again, falling away toward ground) lessen the effect of the ball on the wheel.
In other words. A ball rolling down a tube on a wheel will not impart as much force due to gravity as a ball sitting in a cup at the end...
So, the energy required to displace the ball laterally has been robbed from the system. If that ball were sitting still in a cup on the edge of the wheel, it would be placing all its weight there for the entire arc. The ball isn't placing all its weight at the edge of the wheel because the sloping tube is preventing that from happening.

I could be totally wrong about all this. I'm not a qualified engineer but when I see qualified engineers and physics professors telling a kid he's wrong and that kid keeps arguing and demonstrating the vast chasm between his ego and his knowledge it makes me wonder about the meaning of the name 'Zero'.. Does it refer to your IQ, your amount of common-sense, your knowledge of the world around you, your attention-span, your ability to comprehend simple explanations or your willingness to learn and understand ?

Stephan, after seeing how you moderate this forum, allowing it to be a circus of abuse and ignorance, banning those who try to remain patient in the face of idiocy and insults and permitting snake-oil salesmen and dumb kids to post unhindered and unchallenged, I think I've seen enough.

I was thinking of joining up and sharing my experiences (my SSG is sitting next to me running, right now) but this thread has quite put me off.

My respect and admiration to those who patiently and carefully take the time to explain, to those who diligently try to replicate and also to those who take the trouble to understand, you are this forum's only saving grace.

People like Zero, Ash and the other snake-oil sellers... Well... You guys are ten-a-penny.

The RoadRunner..
